Restoration of "Grant from West Point to Appomattox" (1885), by Thure de Thulstrup, published by L. Prang & Co, Boston.
Clockwise from lower left: *Graduated at West Point 1843 - Gen. Scott presenting diplomas *In the tower at Chapultepec 1847 *Drilling his Volunteers 1861 *Fort Donelson 1862 *The Battle of Shiloh 1862 *The Siege of Vicksburg 1863 *The Battle of Chattanooga 1863 *Commander-in-Chief 1864 *The Surrender of Gen. Lee 1865 This covers the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. Restoration notes Fairly standard stuff. Dirt, tears, smudges, colour, all that sort of thing fixed. Scan provided by the Library of Congress. Copyright status Without repeating things I've said a thousand times by now, this is a pre-1923 American work by Thure de Thulstrup (1848-1930), and hence the original is out of copyright. As a British citizen, I can claim a copyright on the restoration, but, really, just credit me for it. |
