When I designed this outfit I had a battlemage in mind. However, this is more a ceremonial outfit than anything else. On the other hand, the mages of the world below don't know the meaning of the expression "functional clothing", which of course is a very good thing (for me). Actually there is no specific faction of battlemages in the underworld - in a way all dark mages are battlemages, and before they were cast out from the upper world they were commonly hired to fight, guard, assassinate and, generally, to handle all of the messy stuff where their destructive powers could be beneficial.
The walls are of a temporary type commonly used whenever a building has to be raised quickly - mining and cutting in the rock is strictly forbidden for anyone except for the guild of engineers, since large parts of the world below is located below the ocean floor, where any digging in the wrong place might lead to fatal consequences. Thus these buildings are commonly made from various debris, unfortunate vegetation and most other things that might possibly be available at the location in question, and are raised magically in an almost necromantical way (this is possible when the material consists of a large part of organic matter).
