Artist's Statement
Close up shot of her shed exoskeleton. You can see her pumping stomach and the the openings for her legs, pedi-palps and chelicerae. Her abdomen is the bit coming directly off the back part of the carapace. When you handle the exoskeleton you begin to realize just how delicate Tarantulas are. The skeleton itself is tissue paper light (weight). The exoskeleton is sooooo thing. The abdomen is a little more flexible and leathery, but seems even more delicate than the rest.
