Ever notice how the Star Wars films which WEREN’T directed by him were infinitely better? Ever notice how bad Willow really is once you strip away all the groundbreaking special effects work and Warwick Davis?

He freely admits that he’s too timid to make actors do second or third takes and usually just goes with whatever he gets the first time around. When working with Stephen Spielberg on movies like Indiana Jones, he would often delegate all the hard work to Stephen simply because he didn’t want to do it. What a wuss.

Besides that he’s a real douchebag to his fans. First by altering Star Wars in the name of “artistic integrity” and then by giving his fans all a big “screw you” by never releasing the original versions except as a non-anamorphic DVD boxset.

Also, his reliance on 3-D animation instead of using models, puppets, etc not only give the prequel Star Wars less charm and ingenuity than the original, but because he’s such a “visionary” every other Hollywood studio and director out there followed in his footsteps and as a result special effects which were originally amazing and pioneering have just become “oh look it’s CGI again.”

Finally... aside from turning Yoda into a CG frog, he gave us Jar Jar Binks. It’s like no one ever has the guts to stand up to him and say “Hey George? Just because you CAN do that, doesn’t mean you SHOULD do that...”

Amongst all of this he maintains an aura of untouchability and smugness of how “great” he is. I, for one, don’t buy it. He’s a piss-poor director and I can’t STAND him. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
