Artist's Statement
DESCENDO PRINTS :: SERIES FOUR / DUPLICITY
Shedding light on the deceitful nature of surroundings and would-be safe havens in a mixed-media / photo-montage collection. Though the collection employs digital alteration, most of the montages were hand made with carbon sheets and silkscreening acetates for the typography. The series features additional photography from the Rimouski fire of May 6th 1950 "La Nuit Rouge" taken from the st-pierre family archives. Out of respect to the families affected by the incident, the use of my ancestor's archives in this collection serves as a parallel to a recent loss instead of attempting an improper hommage. all artwork and photography is © simon mallette-st-pierre / descendo 2007 & the st-pierre / lavoie family archives 1950-2007. Glossy Finish Photo Prints
Printed on Kodak Edge paper, Glossy Photo Prints have an extremely smooth, reflective surface. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and are slick to the touch. Photos will have a shiny finish, with sharp and vibrant colors.
Matte Finish Photo Prints
Printed on Kodak Edge paper, Matte Photo Prints have a smooth surface. Matte finishes have a lower-contrast and are often used to enhance the innate textures of Photo Prints.
Lustre Finish Photo Prints
Printed on Kodak Super Endura, Lustre-finished Prints are a premier paper offering. Lustre has a slight gloss with a subtle, matte texture. Lustre paper has deeper color-saturation and higher contrast than matte and can sometimes result in a darker image.
Giclée Art Prints
For a contemporary feel, our Premium Paper Giclée Prints deliver vivid color reproduction and exceptional detail on high-quality Matte heavyweight paper stock. Our Premium Paper Artworks are mounted onto a 3/8 inch-thick Masonite board and are ready to hang in a sleek floating wooden box frame, available in Jet Black or Espresso Colors.
