Description

Slovak Infantryman, WW2.

The Slovak Republic was a satellite of Nazi Germany from 1939 to 1945. They sent out men to fight alongside Germany against Poland and the Soviet Union.

Often, they could not follow the very mobile and modern German Army and were left behind, taking days to provide support. Lack of coordination, vehicles and other factors resulted in heavy casualties on the Slovak side. In 1943 to 1944, they would be doing security work, away from the front line due to their unreliability, until the end of the war.

Well, I think if a war between germany and the czecho-slovakian Republic had broken out in 1938 the german Wehrmacht might have received a bloody nose by the Czech army. It is also ironically that the Tank 38.t (a czech battletank) made one of the core units of the german Tank Divisions in 1939 - 1940, since the Wehrmacht lacked modern Tank, the majority of german Tanks was made of PzKpfw I & II, wich were outdated since the late 30´s
