Artist's Statement
Two galapagos sharks and one sandbar shark. They lined up perfectly in this picture.
Sandbar sharks can grow up to be pretty large, but none of the ones we saw there were full sized. They are closely related to bull sharks. Galapagos are fairly similar, but they don't have the oversized dorsal fin that sandbars do. Like sandbar sharks, they are a type of requiem shark, meaning they are a type of active and viviparous shark (like blacktips and tiger sharks). Copyright by me. |
