Photoshop CS3: 30ish hours

So, one of the the things I've been up to for the past year has been <i>The Prime of Ambition</i> Redux. Mostly, that's going back through and retexting old pages and coloring unfinished ones, but for a few pages I've completely re-conceptualized and am doing them over.

This here is one of the latter pages. It's what used to be this:

Now it's a 2-page spread, seeing as all the text on the first go</i> is cramped and illegible. Some of the text is getting cut, too. My buddy Sam had suggested that I kill the bit about the other kinds of drow in the first place because, seriously? not important right now. I was too pig-headed about fleshing out my world setting to listen and only much later realized the wisdom of his suggestion. ^^;

I also completely changed my mind about portraying Nyx, as you can see. Initially, I wasn't showing her because Audriel, the narrator, has never seen her, so how would he know what she looks like? Well, that's a dumb reason not to have a representation of a major power figure integral to the main plot line at their introduction, now isn't it?

So, the new page still has no literal representation of Nyx. As you can see, I went with a more larger-than-life force of darkness to represent the Sh'bera Queen. I think this will work much better.
