Artist's Statement

Are you IR fans still here? ;)

Yes, it's an older piece again. Today I was testing postprocessing of some samples of 665nm IR pics (by favour of John Houghton [link] ) in Capture NX, as I was undecided on the wavelenght of my next IR body. As for comparison, I dug this shot up from the archives which I never really had the time to fix (the hotspot distorted the tones in the middle heavily but now it's fixed with careful selecting of the WB).

While 665nm is nicer for colored vegetation (less saturation bump is required), it's broader spectral sensitivity seems to reduce sharpness with wide angles, it's got less contrast and the white-blue look is harder to achieve. There's no free lunch, as they say. I guess I'll stick to 720nm filter with the D90-IR.
