Devils Marbles :: Northern Territory :: Australia

On the way from Darwin to Alice Springs, yet another unusual Australian geological formation. A geologist will explain it as "spheroidal weathering." It's what happens after volcanic rock cools quickly forming large, square blocks, some as large as a garage. Over time, the elements erode away at the corners and edges, gradually rouding the rock to form "marbles."

Fancy talk. Fancier results.
