Artist's Statement
Hm...about this piece:
I had a circular tiled "plaza" made of foamcore sitting on my shelf for a couple of years, which I never used. So, I grabbed it, and in the spur of the moment, tore a big hole through it and started sticking stuff in it :D It's probably one of my most expressionist pieces. I didn't plan anything or think while making it, and it helped channel quite a few annoying feelings (like a shrink, but free).... The tubes and all the aggressive mechanical parts reminded me of Tetsuos transformations in Akira, so, I dedicated it to him since he is one of my favourite fictional characters :) The whole thing is made of foamcore (cardboard and insulation material), plastic tubes, cables, plaster chunks and miscellaneous plastic junk. And paint. Lots of it. |
