a little note on species makerslisten, i realize some species makers can be real jerks sometimes, and some have rules that seem really ridiculous to follow. But im literally saying this now, if a species creator makes you feel extremely uncomfortable for a ludicrous reason, or you don't agree with their rules, then stay away from them, simple as that.More Like This
now im going to get onto the topic of being a species maker, i feel as if that as soon as you get relatively popular with making a species, people feel the need to shit on you because of it, and i don't find that cool at all. Being a species maker is a stressful job, you have to monitor as many characters as you can on a daily basis to ensure that your product is where it should be, to prevent scammers from stealing or ripping others off. You have to be on alert to make sure that others aren't stealing your idea's and using them for their own profit. You need to keep people in check to make sure that everyone is following your rules and regulations. You need to make a
Important update about widgets. From today I will no longer be using devaintARTs commission widgets, why? Because they will assume you are cashing out without you even doing so. Their system does not care about the truth, if you pay people with points, and they pay you later through a commission widget this will happen.More Like This
I have been in talk with helpdesk about this since they thought I was cashing out points (giving others points for free so they can give them back to me through a widget to get money for it)
And all I got was The system is designed to automatically flag suspicious transactions transferring points in this manner is not allowed. It is one of the many reasons we do recommend that all commissions be made through the use of the widget and not simply at a personal level. I had evidence if needed and they did not even care.
They also refund the points used if this happens to you ( even if they told me they would I have not gotten any taken that I know of yet) Which means, i
Thought of the day."Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."More Like This
Helpfull Selling Mindset (another plz rd)I got a note this morning from someone asking for my assistance and advice about sales. They are having a reselling issue and were inquiring about TOS/contracts. But from what they wrote I could tell that information wouldn't help them with the core issue. I have left out their initial note and kept them anonymous but I thought some of you might get something from my reply regardless.More Like This
It is really lovely to hear that you have had such a wonderful experience selling up till now! Do not let this recent change discourage you. This is not a personal situation/attack that you are going through so do not let it impact you on a personal and emotional level. I know it is painful. I have had it happen and it really does hurt. It is very easy to flip a switch your mind and say "never again" after it happens. It is easy to respond to it by throwing rules and regulations at your work or respond by making co
selling advice (BUT IT WONT SELL!) (please read)"They barely sell as it is, I am afraid if I raise prices anymore they won't sell at all"More Like This
"My art isn't worth it"
"People won't pay what I want"
"Insert a million excuses here"
This is you! Or rather I should start off by saying this is all of us because I don't believe in playing the victim, we are equals here. We have all said it at some point in regards to sales. I personally have said it plenty of times. You, the reader are probably no exception.
Pricing is difficult, I offer my service and advice to who I can but at the end of the day I can't reach everyone to give you this talk. So I am writing this general journal about why your art ACTUALLY does not sell. I am going to try to be possitive but this journal may be harder to digest then most of the other informational journals simply because of the nature of the reason under pricing occurs. Which is because the seller has no self confidence, no experience, and is making business about their worth as
More contract talk...HOW TO MAKE ONEOk I have talked and read some people's TOS and frankly they freak me out.... So I thought I needed a GENERAL talk about documents and how to set them up.More Like This
Terms of Service:
This document is where you lay out YOUR rights and the PATRONS rights to the product you are delivering. This is Mine. Mine only applies to custom adoptions. If you are doing commissions you need a different one because you often don't own the characters. So here is what you ROUGHLY need to address in a TOS
1. At what point does the work become theirs?
Why? I have this so up till the moment I upload it. I own it.
2.What the patron do/not do with the design?
Why? so they don't do something with it you don't like
3.COMMERCIAL AND PRIVATE USE
you have to do this. no exceptions. who owns what.
4. Anything else you want to talk about? Other section
White Knights and Why They're HarmfulThis is quite a huge/concerning topic, and I know that not all deviants share the same point of view, and I respect that. I'm sure that there are many other journals touching upon this subject, but because I personally have had very bad experiences with it, I want to inform my watchers about it myself! Hope it helps some.More Like This
So, for the past year or so I've noticed that some people saying that they specifically dislike a lot of "popular" dA artists due to the overprotective behavior of their watchers.
I personally find it very sad that people are turned off by my artwork simply because they associate my username with "[my] white knights".
There's no way I can possibly control what my fanbase does or says, and this can lead to some very awkward situations and conflicts on my end.
Don't get me wrong...I love each and every one of my watchers, in fact without you guys my artistic life would be incredibly more lackluster. I'm sure ma
