25 Mile Creek, Lake Wakatipu
New Zealand

Finally, a new shot to share with you all!
Being stuck at home really sucks so it was good to get away for the Easter break! :) I've been carrying an injury for the last 3 1/2 weeks, so not a bad effort all things considered!
Hope you like this :)

The blue waterfalls or Agua Azul can be found in the state of Chiapas in Mexico. Due to the high mineral content these can turn to turquoise/blue. Allthough the waterfalls ain't turquoise all year long. Most of the time the colours are brown, so being there at the right time of year is a must! The highest waterfalls are about 6 meters in height, but there are numerous falls and pools along a 300m stretch of limestone. This is a famous spots for Mexicans and tourists to go for swimming when the water changed into the right, paradisiac colours.

'Etu Moana' is the Maori word for blue starfish.

I just returned from a fantastic trip to Aitutaki Atoll in The Cook Islands in the heart of the South Pacific. I had a feeling that a great sunset would materialize this night and I spent 3 hours walking up and down the beach looking for a suitable foreground and wasn't having much luck until I glanced down and saw this little guy. He was invisible without polarized sunglasses and luckily I had just put mine on. Believe it or not, these guys move pretty fast and I had to use a high ISO to keep the shutter speed up and hold the limb movement to a minimum. This was a fairly productive trip photographically and I will be posting more shots from these beautiful islands over the next couple weeks.

PS: The trip was paid for with my grand prize in OP's Iconic 100 contest! It pays to play!

Kirlian Camera – Wasted Bridges

Shot exactly 35 minutes after Underneath the Veil, this place was our original destination and this view was exactly the view we were hoping for. At least for me that is. Easy to understand why upon seeing it I completely forgot to keep on nagging about why we didn’t linger a bit more at the previous location.

It was a magical morning indeed; everything was perfectly still and silent, except for the water calmly running past us. We were lucky enough to find a spot were the river was shallow enough to allow us to set up right in the middle of it. Looking back I think this was the last totally perfect magical morning of our Easter vacation. Right after that my tonsillitis kicked in and I started swallowing hot coals which significantly diminished the pleasure of the days to follow. However, looking back I definitely wish I could go back and do it all over again... even the painful bit.

For more information about the place have a look at *KirlianCamera’s equivalent.

Hope you enjoy your visit here!

PS This one is dedicated to the best guide I’ve ever had and the only man who ever dared to tell me “Shut up and move it” and not only lived to see another sunrise but actually got a thanks for it! Thanks Kozy! :slap:

This road has been one of the places i definitely had to see for more than 3 years now, and i finally managed to visit it recently. I must conclude, Ireland (and Northern Ireland) are extremely beautiful, and even though I had lot's of bad luck (i killed a 10 day old Sony A99 for example, and that is just one small piece of the hole puzzle) i really enjoyed the rough but very peaceful and incredible landscapes. Some of the most beautiful places i've came along for sure.

The Dark Hedges are a beautiful old avenue of Beech Trees line the Bregagh Road near the village of Armoy, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland.

A selection from my VIEWS of the Pacific Northwest project, dedicated to capturing sweeping panoramic views from around the area and turning
them into large-scale prints on archival paper and canvas.

To see the full collection visit www.viewsofthepnw.com

Some additional background on this photo:
This is one of those shots where constant visits and careful planning led to a much anticipated payoff… I've been staking out this shot since early 2013 (I literally had to wait for the grain to grow -- the dirt field that preceded it just didn't feel right). If you follow me on instagram, then you've seen multiple views from this vantage point over the last year or so as I revisited to check conditions. Finally one visit saw all the right elements converged --  the result is one of my most favorite views of Mt. Hood, and you can rest assured that I'll be checking back at all seasons to see how the view changes.

Dart River, New Zealand.

I spent an evening up in Paradise (yes that is the name of the area) and it was freeeezing cold! Wind frequently howls down through the Dart Valley, on dry days this can create mini dust storms that stretch all the way past the head of Lake Wakatipu. On this evening it was relatively calm but a cold breeze would come though now and then. I couldn't feel my fingers after a while!! :) Some Hereford cattle grazing in the paddock and along the river gathered behind me  I think they were appreciating the sunset too!

For :iconsupernatural-art: Metal Song Contest :)
Well, it's by a metal group, but the song itself isn't necessarily metal, so I'm not sure if it will count...

A kite above a graveyard grey
At the end of the line, far, far away
A child holding on to the magic of birth and awe.

Oh, how beautiful it used to be
Just you and me, far beyond the sea,
The waters, scarce in motion, quivering still.

At the end of the river, the sundown beams
All the relics of a life long lived
Here, weary traveler, rest your want
Sleep the journey from your eyes.

Good journey, love, now time to go
I checked your teeth and warmed your toes;
In the horizon I see them coming for you.

The mermaids' grace, the forever call
Beauty in spyglass on an old man's porch
The mermaids you turn loose brought back your tears...
:rose: ~Nightwish,
Turn Loose the Mermaids

I guess it's a pretty literal interpretation of the lyrics...mermaids' grace, kite above a graveyard grey, sundown beaming at the end of the river (ocean?). And purple because I don't have anything purple in my gallery, it's mostly red, green, black, white, or sepia. I like this song a lot, it has a lot of nice, peaceful imagery. :) Also, hooray for not-redhead mermaids for a change :D brunettes rule

Coastline enveloped by sea spray during the golden hour, after an afternoon shower.

Golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day. Typically the lighting is more diffused because the sun is near the horizon, so the sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, reducing its intensity.

A Golden Dusk

Taken this past summer, I felt as though this shot really emphasized the heat of the summer at sunset. I really loved the light when I shot this, utterly dramatic. Longs Peak is on the right, one of the 54 "fourteeners" in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado --14,259 feet (4,346 m)

I hope you all like it
John
