A bit of Hell and HeavenFor three weeks, I was lost in paradise. The mountains and valleys are such a peaceful place with rolling hills of lush green grass with fields of butterflies and grasshoppers. There are trees so heavy with peaches their branches dip low to the earth and ponds with fish just waiting to be caught. Sky Meadows, a fitting name for this piece of heaven.More Like This
But this heaven, my long needed trip in paradise, isn't all as it looks to be. Sleep never comes from the nightmares that keep lingering overhead. Bats fighting to escape the attic, rain pounding on the unstable tin roof and mice gnawing on the walls. Fog in the morning on the trails on top the mountains gives way for old and forgotten Civil War troops to march by in deadly ghost like solitude. This heaven turns to hell quickly in the baking sun and cold nightly rain.
I feel as though I've died many times over, sweat and dirt covering my body. But, I've experienced joy from a cold shower and good meal. I've
Summer Lovin'It was a summer night unlike any other; warm and calm. The moon hung low in the sky, making it dip into its own reflection on the clear lake water. The darkness of the night covered the discarded clothes.
The chirp of crickets hid the noises of passion.
The tall grass made a perfect place to lay in the afterglow.
The hollow tree made an amazing hiding place.
The hum of the fishing boat that passed did a wonderful job covering up the screams.

I pray the Lord my soul to keep...

What's he doing? Why can't anybody else hear this? Where is one of the priests? Why can't I dream one of them up to come and save her! I smell blood, I can see the knife! Her screams are louder than the very bells ringing from above!
And wake me with the morning light...
Twelve chimes, softer screams...When will this dream end? I can see the blood streaming down the side of the table, the woman screams no more.... why can't anybody else see this? Where is everybody?
