So this is the latest step in my complete and utter downward spiraling of fangirling for Avatar: The Last Airbender. But HEY, at least they have their clothes on unlike the last one. lol. *face_palm*
This one's much more canon, and are drawn timeline-wise in episode 2, book 3, right after their dance in the Fire Nation. And come on, we all know if the meddlesome teachers hadn't come, something like this could have very well happened. Did you see the dance and how they ended it? I rest my case. All you other shippers, bah. Take that. :3
So as we can see.. super sketchy, and I don't really plan on cleaning it up much more than it already is. I only did this in a couple of hours, unlike the other ones that I spread out over a few days. So yes the anatomy is wonky and that cave wall is horrible. Toph would be ashamed of me.
My favorite angsty Fire Prince, the one and only Zuko!
Even after all these years, I still love him. A little contribution to the already huge fandom of Avatar here on DeviantART.
I've been seeing a lot of fantastic fan art of Mako lately, I just feel bad that everyone's seemed to have forgotten of Zuko. A few days ago I re-watched the finale of Avatar : The Last Airbender, and I just had to redraw him. I've done a lot of Zuko art before, but none have satisfied me. I'm quite happy with how this one turned out, especially the flames and his face.
I hope you'll like it! Comments and faves are very much appreciated!
Day was boring, so I spent this glorious saturday planted in front of the computer screen lamely redrawing Avatar characters with different hair and/or clothes. My drawing of Suki ( [link] ) was my favorite about two hours ago. Now this one--of Mai--is my favorite. I love how her expression turned out! Damn. Enough of me praising myself, I'm sorry. I just rarely get satisfied with what I draw on Photoshop.
:Lythya: wrote an awesome fanfic inspired by my picture of Mai. You should definately read it. In fact, click the link NOW! [link]
Anyway...Avatar the show belongs to Mike and Bryan, Mai the character belongs exclusively to Zuko, Avatar the hopefully-not-as-lame-as-I-think-it-will-be Live Action Movie belongs to M. Night Shamalahayahalmahlalahway, (why can't he just shorten his last name to something like "Sham"?), art belongs to moi, and Oliver Twist was written by Charles Dickens.
EDIT: Why is this getting more favorites than anything else in my gallery?? lol
EDIT EDIT: Ew people stop liking this. It's so old and yucky.
This image is a work in progress, unfortunately. I painted it in 2009. I'm pretty sure that I will no longer work on it, so here is a close-up version of the picture. It was actually planned as a full body picture. Hope you like it anyway.

3/10/2011 Edit: Fixed up the colors and moved some things around. Like the last update I did, the image has been adjusted to poster size. Old version can be seen here. I never noticed the lack of contrast in the background Aangs, so that was my main concern with editing this one XD. Other than that, I didn't want to change much :]
First Side - Good ol', lovable Aang .
Second Side - The various Avatar States, representing Aang's non-native elements.
Phew, this reminded me a lot of working on Raven's 'Two Sides' picture: a four character collage -- all of the same person .
I worked really hard on this one. And for once, I didn't cut any corners and used pretty much everything I know .
Personally, I'm just happy I managed to post a full picture after so long .
Hope you guys like it . Thanks fer viewing .
Next up is Katara's pic .
Edit: The water, fire, and earth effects were really fun to draw. Must do more of that in the future, lol.
Edit: Even though some people said it wasn't a problem, I fixed Aang's back tattoos, for the sake of accuracy XD.
Yea i said id draw this outfit on Aang again i just love it! excuse my crappy sneakers i cannot draw them to save my life espically Dunks. Aang is rockin those colors! Man i wish i had dunks like that. ugh its 2:00 am and im sleepy!so yea hope ya like ^^
This is a commission of grown-up Toph for ~gossymer , who was a joy to work with! During the working progress she gave me the most helpful constructive criticism : D
~gossymer also had some great concept ideas, for instance the staff Toph is carrying. It's a gift from Iroh (hence the dragon decorations), which she uses as a fake walking stick - pretending she really can't see During battle she metal-bends it into whatever shape she needs, because she's a badass earth/metalbender like that.
Re-submitting an old piece... like 2 years old XD and i re-painted it last month, and forgot to upload it "orz
here's the orginal, done in '07: [link] most of you prolly familiar with this... i wasn't really satisfied at first hahaha XD... but now, looks much better than the last (at least) ^_^ oh... i might change her eye since she's not supposed to look at us XD... that's why she's 'blind'... i fail there XD
[EDIT] WTHHHFFHFHFHF???? D: how come it got so many faves???... this happens whenever i upload something i don't like or not satisfied with it... SANKYUUUUUUUUUUU everyone <3
my rejected Zuko ><" done this few weeks ago (one of my unfinished failure stuff), i just didn't wanna upload it coz i wasn't satisfied with it ><"... my fire looks crap XD don't ask lol i didn't use reference *fail*
hahaha i will finish this, this break when i have time XD still have some fixing to do :/
one of my friends forced me to upload it :/ he wanted to see Zuko in fullbody with fireeeee liquidy type thing DDDD:
anyway, sorry to spam you with fanarts D: i will soon do some originals/commish this easter break "orz
This one's all inked on computer. I went with thinner lines than I usually do for lineart, which seems to make it look more like the original cartoon.
Not sure I've quite got the Avatar style working for me yet. Momo was particularly hard to draw for some reason. I'll have to upload a detail shot with Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko, as you can't really see their expressions in this 1/4 scale picture.
Major Edit: Since this is my last 'Two Sides' pic, I decided it needed to be a bit more eventful (that, and Toph deserves a much better tribute :D). I added a second view, from the other side of the room. The picture feels a lot more complete now; I'm glad I added on to it. Enjoy :).
Oh, and you don't have to comment a second time if you don't want to, lol XD.
Toph Bei Fong and The Blind Bandit
Edit: Thanks goes to ~DenraWaterWolf for pointing out "The Blind Bandit" was a more appropriate title than "The Runaway"
Hehe, I kinda regret not including any earthbending in this pic, but I was trying to focus more on Toph's different attitudes -- one as the Bei Fong family's daughter and the other as her earthbender self.
I also tried to give this one more atmosphere and symbolism than the previous entries. And for that I guess I sacrificed dynamic camera angles and element bending, lol .
And that's it for the Two-Sides project . Can't believe I've been working on this for over a year already .
3/20/2012 Major Edit:A huge thanks to AwesomeAltArt on Tumblr for posting the Two Sides series and sending so many followers my way *__*. It reminded me that I needed to update this pic. Made a bunch of changes including some fixes to Katara's hand/face and some adjustments to create a better range of color. Her skin is now closer to the proper tone. I'm not sure what happened the first time around; I'm pretty sure I grabbed the skin color right from a screenshot, but she ended up looking pale as death after all the lighting adjustments I made XD.
I caught a little cold, so while staying home today I started on and finished Katara's illustration in the Two Sides series. It was fun, and surprisingly the angle didn't trouble me as much as I thought it would. The hands, though, were a pain -- and they still don't look quite right .
This concept might seem a bit morbid, I just realized, lol. But if you prefer, pretend the red water is a trick of the light... or grape juice. It's entirely metaphorical anyway .

Waaaay overdue, it's Avatar Discovers Shipping Part 3! It's the final installment (tho I still like the second one best), and I sincerely hope you enjoy it! If I didn't get to a character you wanted, sorry, but feel free to do your own spiel if you want!
For those who don't know what "shipping" is, click here: [link]
Thanks, everyone for being so patient. I hope it was mostly worth the wait!
So here it finally is, after only being able to work on it bits at a time, "Avatar Discovers Shipping Part Two"! Featuring a lot of my favorite characters (villains, mostly)! :3 Don't worry if I didn't get to a character you like, there's plenty more cast to go around for a third installment.
For those of you who don't know what "shipping" is: [link]
Overall, I think this piece came out much better than the last one. I blame the hip-hop for that.
Fan art of "Avatar: The Last Airbender". Coloured with markers.
I'm doing the artwork for the official manga prequel of "The Last Airbender" (the live action film adaptation, not the TV), but this picture has nothing to do with it! It's fan art and nothing more.
I won't get to draw the characters like this for the manga, 'cause I have to stick to the movie designs. And it's a prequel -- a brand new story, so will I even get to draw these characters? Who knows...! (Well actually, I do know: most of them won't be involved because the story is about Zuko and his banishment.)
This picture was more or less a visualization of what the Fire Lord and Lady's clothes look like. I really wish I had the patience to put a background in here, but alas - I do not.
There are a few reasons for this picture.
First of all. I like Zuko and Katara together. It gives me nice fuzzy feelings inside
Second of all, I am really tired of seeing pictures of 'Fire Lord and Lady' ONLY dressed in the colors black, maroon and gold. So here is my long shibang about the fashion of the Fire Nation.
What I know is that there are many colors that make up fire, be it a camp fire, a candle, the suns rays, a comet hurtling towards earth... there are many colors in fire. I think it actually goes blue, white, yellow, orange then red from hottest to coolest.
What I am trying to express is the idea that for a hundred years, the fire nation rained down destructive fire and thus, for a hundred years, it was a fashion staple to only have red, black and gold. But with Zuko as the new Fire Lord, I am sure that he and Katara would want to push the war as far out of the way as possible, leaving it to the history books. He wants the nations to prosper, which led me to thinking about 'a new day rising' The sun rising. The suns colors as it rises.
The robes that this new king wears are those of energy and hope. A new flame; a young spark emerging from the ashes of the corrupted fires that spread through out the kingdoms. This is the beginning of something new, and I whole heartedly think that Zuko and Katara would be the first to embrace such a change.
And its kinda neat, because when you squint your eyes, and look at them, they do kinda look like flames Pretty cool.
So do we all get the symbolism? I only ask because I really want to get my point across. Red+black+gold=destructive, corrupted fire of the war Blue+yellow+orange=sunrise, reborn energy, life
And the third thing is I cannot believe that the fire nation only has gold thread and black and red dye.... in its entire kingdom. No way. Ty-Lee got some pink, so where the heck did the rest of the pink cloth go?!
