Boondock SaintsConnor and Murphy MacManus are Irish twin brothers living in Boston, Massachusetts. Both pious Catholics, the brothers lead relatively normal, innocent lives until three members of the Russian mob decide to evict a neighborhood pub (and frequent hang-out of the brothers) on St. Patricks Day, one of the most treasured days in the life of an Irish Catholic. The eviction results in a brawl between the mobsters and the patrons of the pub, in which the mobsters receive a sound beating. The next morning, however, the Russian Mafioso plans to exact his revenge on the brothers MacManus, resulting in the brothers killing the mobsters in self-defense.

As the investigations into the murders begin, Connor and Murphy turn themselves in as the killers, and are painted as the portraits of vigilante heroism. While spending the night in a holding cell (to avoid the media outpour), the brothers receive a vision from God, willing them to rid the city of Boston of evil so that the good and innocent
