I cant refuse to make another halloween picture. I love this season and the special atmosphere of this day. My imagination is again directed to the colonial america, age of first settlers and wich trials. I tried catch the atmosphere of this time in a small village where the children are dancing along some old obscure idol. All creatures are drawn to him to celebrate this night.

Painted for *kandinsky-prince Thank you for this one, it was a welcome break from character illustration. Photoshop CS3, wacom intuos 3, my own custom brushes for texture.

Done for a competition. I won by default because the other guy didn't submit his piece. Round 2 isn't due yet, but I suppose I'll post that when it's done.

Here's a new piece from the Popped Culture series: Buzz Lightyear. Enjoy it and his sad story...

As Buzz's final moment came before him, he glared into the black abyss, only capturing one last one thing: a promise he made his son:

"I will always protect and watch over you. To infinity and beyond."

Buzz was an all American hero. He worked for the Star Command Army and had been recently promoted to Staff Sgt, leading the young and brave through interstellar wars against the evil alien terrorist, Zurg.

While deep in space, Buzz's ship was pulled into a worm-hole caused by his arch-nemesis Commander Zurg. Buzz tried everything in his power to turn his ship around, but to no avail. At this point, Buzz and his crew only had one option: abandon ship.

As the ship took more damage, the rescue pods began to deplete. Buzz allowed each member to escape as he tried to give them every last minute--until finally, it was too late.

Buzz, and his cruiser, were pulled into the worm-hole, and was never seen or heard from again. Buzz was announced dead by Star Command and the world mourned for the hero that saved over two hundred lives that day. He would leave behind his beloved wife, daughter and son.

However, Buzz did not die that day. He awoke to find himself still trapped into his own ship. All in tact, and still in his suit, he tried to escape but realized he was imprisoned, bound by wires.

This would be the first day of Buzz's new life, cast away into another dimension from Zurg's worm-hole, Buzz was no longer the human he once thought he was.

For now Buzz was wrapped away as an action figure, and on his way to a birthday party for a young boy named Andy.

Buzz's very own son.

This started off as a mostly human-made structure in concept, but I decided to make it more organic in the end. Cool colours again, must be the heat getting to me.

Edit: Made characters in foreground a little bigger and moved a few elements. Reduced contrast on central area. Thanks for the crits, guys!

I started this picture a couple of years ago as a speedpainting but I wasn't able to finish it due the lack of skillz -__-'

A few weeks ago, I found this sketch in one of my old folders and I really thought (even if was crappy) that it would have a lot of potential. So I started to overpaint and work things out... and this is the result

I think one of my better pictures, also done for my current exhibition.

Ok, ok. I will answer for all your questions atlast. Sorry for net reply for every comment, Im not good in English and dont have enough time.
But now I will try to explain... I actually dont like to explain "what is this picture about", I prefer everyone see what they want and what they can.
Here is no story at all ) I usually dont try to tell a story by pic, I only try to show emotions, mood and so on.
One day I had got a thought and made a creapy sketch. The thought was about a girls who likes to draw or watch on handsome men this days (me too ))) And of course, I know about Pigmalion and Galateya too. Then I was thinking about the pic almost a year ))) I dont remember what I thought but there were many ideas ^^
So...What we have in the end?
Ohh, really, I dont want to explain all other things =_= I dont want to become a writer
But i will read all your variants if you have any ))))))) Thanks for all your commnts, I allways read them, and sorry again for not reply to each!

What started as a speedpainting exercise ended up as rather lengthy effort for me. Painting without any clear direction, I just got more and more curious about where this painting could go.
