I made the Paragon Shepard a while ago already and for Halloween I wanted to make the Renegade one, too. It was my first time making scars (I think). It was fun, I'll have to practise more more sometime! (Though I enjoyed making freckles the most!)

I love working and retouching Mass Effect related stuff. My body was asking for it.
Once again, I tried to capture and represent the aesthetic, ambient and feel of the game, and get immersed into that universe.

How to make a Mass Effect N7 Armor

I have been asked this question a lot so I decided to go ahead and answer it. I DID NOT come up with how to make it, I got the idea from other brilliant prop makers who came before me and did this long before I did.

1.EvilFX: Website
He documented his build and he even takes commissions

2.Volpin Props: Website
He has a section on his N7 build and many rifles including the M-8

3. Narayas: Website
He has instruction somewhere on a file share with patterns...awesome person..(can't find direct link at moment but google you will find)

4. AxiomUltra Design: Website
The man works wonder..I am envious of his build..that armor is sweet and super detailed. Look in therpf.com he posted up a thread ab his build with pepakura blueprints.

Tools/supplies I used

1. X-acto knife
2. 100 X-acto knife blades
3. cutting mat
4. heat gun
5. hot glue gun
6. hot glue sticks
7. EVA foam (buy mats off amazon or ebay)
8. 1/4 closed cell foam (google it, see what ships cheapest to you)
9. proxxon rotary tool (any rotary tool will do)

Now Narayas has the patterns somewhere out there....hmm well those did not work for me, I made my own because I am weird that way, I don't work well with other people's pattern. Buy extra foam..you are going to mess up and need it, I messed up many a square of it..it happens. OMG best part full body armor and no molds!!! Well except one for the boobies, check out EvilFx female armor build, he will show you his set up, I made a similar one for my lovely boobies.

Paint

Ok we painted ours and its not impossible however you will not have that awesome finish like I do on my Claymore armor, impossible with this kind of material.

Happy armor making, if after you have checked out my senpai above and still have questions, shoot but these guys came before me so check them out...let me know how your builds turn out.
Read above..thanks

A Photographer on the Citadel

In a quite part of the Citadel Wards, in a small alley known only to the locals lies a studio.
Here lives and works a photographer who boldly defies all contemporary holographic technologies, relying instead on ancient human devices based on crude mechanics and chemistry to capture his motifs.

Now - be it by chance or by purpose - some of the greatest heroes of our time found their way into that studio to stand before the camera...

(All pictures of the series can be found here: pineappletree.deviantart.com/g…)

The "Bla bla bla" part
Wanted to do an 'en profil' 'photo' of Liara for quite some time now. With a head silhouette like that, you just have to! ;)

When I decided to give it a go I thought this would be a 'quickie'. Turns out it had to go through more iterations (read: complete changes of concept) than all my previous Liara renderings before it stopped looking boring or 'too technical' and became something I liked. It was even a 'Sad Liara' at some point, modeled (!) tears and everything ...

And speaking of modeling, there was quite a bit of it this time. Apart from smaller details, I had to remake almost the complete mesh of the folds on Liara's neck. The original one is far from optimized for their form and looked horrible in a close up like this.

Anyway, it was fun to change tone and work with a bit more light this time, though it probably won't become the new 'standard' for the series.

But who knows ... ;)

The technical stuff

All pictures of this series are based on models and textures directly extracted from Mass Effect's game files and modified by me where I deemed it necessary.
Posing, lighting, rendering were done in 3dsMAX + V-Ray.
Background, composing, postprocessing in PS.

Updates

17/07/2012 - Small update with slightly altered eye reflections. Should look a bit more believable now.

Commander Shepard in her elements :).

My first one this year but maybe not my last. These took me more and more time to finish. One reason is that I´ve not that much time anymore to work constantly on these and the other reason is that I take my time with my drawings to get by far better results. This one is approx. 4 months from start to finish.

Size is A2. Mostly drawn with my 0,5 mm 2B mechanical pencil.

To all Mass Effect fans and fans from my art. Please enjoy!

This is a cosplay which really looks easy to do but which was actually a pain in the *** to make. We can't see it on the pictures but I had to dye the leggings and the under shirt to make them a dark shade of green like in the cartoon.
The under shirt was actually a full grey leotard I cut and sewed.
I Painted the yellow shirt with textil paint, ( I had to redo it 1 time and trew away a t shirt TT before getting the right result)
I bought a pair of jean I cut to make a pair of shorts.
I lost the hairband and had to make a new one the day of the convention with yellow textil. And I had to cut and style the wig which was 30 cm too long.

I've tried to play Mass Effect in February for the first time, but it didn't go well. Dragon Age II, you know... :D But I've come back to ME later and it seems that I'm the biggest fan of this game ever.
This is my first art of ME, and you can see for sure that I love Garrus/fem!Shepard :aww: It's just a quick sketch, but I'm going to make the real pictures in the future, of course.

Phew.....I've had this sitting around for a while. Been really wanting to submit something to show that I'm alive, so I'm finally uploading this guy.
Character design commission for :iconchomp-chi: This is just one part of the commission... His initial design. I also have an alternate outfit that I'm working on, and and expression page. Those ones should be up before too long.
So this is Kourris'Alrik Vas Scaphaira.  He's a turian who was raised around quarians, (Hence the Vas in his name... he adopted it after so many years of living with the Quarians.) So, his outfit here is meant to reflect a quarian aesthetic. I went for a few motifs from both the female and male quarian outift design, since I found the male design on it 's own rather boring. I used some of the concept art from ME1 of Tali's original design, as well as some of the male Quarian concept art from ME2 as inspiration.
Enjoy~
(Character belongs to :iconchomp-chi: artwork belongs to me. Do not repost without first getting permission from both Chomp-Chi and myself. )

Every Barbarian needs a weapon, and even though I'm basing my Diablo 3 cosplay on the artwork by Wei Wang, I wanted an axe rather than a sword, so Si made and painted one. Seemed more... Barbarian-y. This is a word now, btw.

It's made from EVA foam and Worbla for the blade, while the handle is a plastic pipe from B&Q. Painting is done in drybrushed acrylics, using silver, burnt umber and black. Just needs a little blood to be added.

Felt like uploading something new, so have sum moar Marius!

Elector Count Marius Leitdorf - Warhammer Fantasy

Also known as the Mad Lord of Averland, Marius features rather prominently in the Warhammer Empire fluff. I initially fell for him because I suspect the developers at Games Workshop based him loosely on Maximilian. He is best known for being a lethal swordsman and thoroughly insane. For further information, here's what GW has to say about him: [link]

And my two-cents: [link]

Unfortunately, he has gotten a little ridiculous in the more recent fluff: relying on his horse for strategic advise, buttermilk baths, and all that. I prefer to think of him as a vertically-challenged, multi-talented cynic, who gets a ridiculously large thrill from slaying orcs and insulting his fellow counts and officials. With extra feathers and silks, of course.

The Costume

I love Marius because he gives me an excuse to make traditional early 16th century German garb with ridiculous embellishments. This was one of two costumes I wore to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this year. It isn't finished at the present; I still need to finish molding the proper armour out of leather and making the sword belts/scabbards. Also have to push the Warhammer iconography liek whoa. So moar skulls! Moar hammers of Sigmar! Moar blazing suns!

But as you see it now, I've got the doublet made of black and yellow polyester cashmire, interlined with heavy canvas to give it some nice weight, and lined with burgundy cotton. The slashing on the arms is hanging like shit in this shot but at least you get the idea. The pants are Duppioni silk and are actually the entire reason I took the plunge with this costume. The sash is also silk; the women at the cutting table made WTF faces when I was buying the fabric and asked me what I was making. I told them it was a costume for "an insane medieval guy" and they made further faces and muttered things about the bizarrity of buying silk for a costume. But the silk was a must, for sure. The hat is made of black melton and based on a enlarged version of the landsknecht starfish hat pattern from Reconstructing History. Normally it sits a lot nicer on my head but we had a Mach 12 wind on the day of the shoot so I had to clamp it down fairly tightly.

The sword deserves special mention. In the Warhammer verse, the elector counts carry 'runefangs.' These were holy swords made by the dwarves in the early days of the Empire. Because I have zero knowledge of woodworking, I commissioned the amazing =InKibus to make this, along with a long-bladed dagger. It's utterly spectacular - about 50" long and 4" wide. She was even awesome enough to carve a motto in Gothic script in German into the flat of the blade - "For Averland and Honour - Sigmar grant me victory." Runefangs typically have runes on them (orly) but this was my one guilty pleasure.

The armour came from my 1500s harness and it was made on commission by Pavel Marek last summer - [link] The pauldrons are sitting a little weird here due to the position of my arms - they don't normally look like battle-bras, I swear!
