Say Hello To Carcharipteryx A new Theropod was just described! Found in the Yixian formation; it's preserved with soft tissue outlines. Though it was discovered all the way back in 2007, a new paper was just released. Described in this paper is something amazing: a Carcharodontosaurid with filamentous feathers! The team who discovered it have dubbed it Carcharipteryx apseudes. The fossil is huge, at a massive 6 meters! Clearly it is not fully grown. It seems to be closely related to Shaochilong. A REALLY cool part though, is that it was discovered with several small, unknown Theropods! All of them seemingly died at the same time. Among these are a basal Oviraptorosaur, what seems to be Microraptor but it isn't known for sure, and also two types of winged Scansoriopterygids.More Like This
