CHAPTER 29: That Teacher, Scheming.
The final work-week opened with a dawn that was as glorious as it was bitter. The news channels were filled with follow-up information on the department store terror-attack, and despite fears of attendance drops and angry parents, the school day began with all its usual mishaps.
Grey eyed me as I stepped into the Staff Room, his gentlemanly features schooled into a carefully blank expression. “Are you really feeling better?” he asked, cutting directly to the chase.
I glanced at him for the barest of a moment before letting my lips twitch upward. “I shall endure.”
The teachers surrounding our desks turned their heads to observe the two of us.

The beautiful sun was beginning to set as you watched it from the swingset at the park. Saying farewell to the warmth you had as you look around to find ourself surrounded with cold snow. You sighed knowing you would be facing another cold and dreary night. You got up off the swing and started to head back to the heart of the city of London to hopefully find a box to enclose your body in to keep warm and to keep the snow off you. You were Hungry, but you knew it was to late to try to find a berry bush or fruit tree.

"Mister Tanaka, are you in here?” Peeking around another corner you continued your search for the illusive little man. Sebastian had specifically chosen you to help Tanaka with whatever needed doing because the two of you got along quite nicely. Even more importantly than that, was the fact that you could understand Tanaka better than most of the others could. “He's not here either. It's like he disappeared completely.” Just as you were about to give up altogether, you heard his a quiet laugh coming from behind you.
“Hoh, hoh.” Standing in the middle of the hall was Tanaka, how he got there so quickly and without you noticing was beyond you. As always he had his small cup of tea in his hand. He held it close, allowing the steam to fog his monocle.
“There you are, I was looking all over.” You gave him a relieved smile, now knowing you wouldn't get in trouble with Sebastian for shirking your duties. “Sebastian has put me under your

“My lady, where are you going at this hour, and in your night dress no less?” Your maid, who had grown accustomed to you sneaking out and getting yourself into trouble was still more than a little surprised to see you with your hand on the cold brass knob of the front door. “It's too cold for you to go out there like that.” She no longer tried to stop your wrongdoings. Knowing you wouldn't listen anyway, the heavyset, gray haired, motherly figure rushed over to the closet and pulled out a warm coat. “At least wear this. I can't have you catching cold.”
You accepted the coat, albeit somewhat sheepishly. “Thank you.” Suddenly worried your plan might be ruined by her knowing, you clasped the woman’s soft, puffy hands in yours and looked at her with pleading eyes. “You won't be telling my father I'm gone will you?
She gently shook her head, a kind smile on her face. “No, it's not my place dear. Besides, I was young

Tugging on the edge of your blue and black dress, you stepped out of your carriage with the assistance of your the lean butler at the door. Your handmaid had already been helped out by the long-fingered man and quickly took her place a slightly behind you.
“My lady,” the butler purred, bowing deeply in front of you, “The Earl eagerly awaits your arrival.”
You swallowed nervously. “Of course,” you replied with a quick bow of your head, “I am honored to meet him.”
Today was the day you would finally meet your fiance, Earl Alois Trancy.
It was strange for two people of your wealth to be engaged at such an old age, but you had been sent away for schooling when you were young and, by the time you were old enough to come home, your parents were deceased. It wasn’t until recently that your brother, older than you by three years, found you a husband.
