I wasn't paying attention to the path as I walked home. I was too jumpy and nervous. Wow. That thing from earlier must' a really left an impression on me. 'But still... what was it?' I kept thinking, over and over again. The same questions with no answers, only theories made up in my head.
"Hey!" a man yelled putting his hand on my shoulder. He crouched down to my size: "The lights on red, kid, you can't cross the street now." He said smiling, and patting my head. it didn't help me at all. I was angry at his "little" addition to the sentence. "I'M NOT A KID I HAPPEN TO BE IN HIGHSCHOOL!!!!" I yelled at him. A small complex of mine that came from watching to much anime *cough* fullmetal alchemist *cough* and the fact that I am 5'2" feet tall. That out of my system, I looked up at the lights, wait, there aren't any lights on the way to my place! I looked around properly at my surroundings; I was on the opposite side of town near-
"Hey kaito-kun! Were you on your way to the game shop?" -Yugi's place, the kame game shop. Of all the things that could happen to me in one day I had to get lost on a straight path and wind up here. "I wasn't, I just got lost on the way home" I said shaking scared to even look at him. "But your house it's just a straight walk home from school isn't it?" he sounded puzzled how I could even do that. "if you need a short cut you can just go through that dark alley over there and you're there!" great... dark alley, shadow games, twilight appearing in the sky, every thing for a bad scary movie but I didn't care. If I got home after mum she'd kill me where I stood any way, so I thanked Yugi and ran as fast as I could towards that alleyway he pointed out to me. I glanced at my watch: 5:12pm. 3 more minutes before I became toast. I kept trying to beat the clock and ran faster but then I bumped into something or rather someone, and a metallic clanking noise accompanying me when I hit the floor. I looked up at him and for a split second his vivid purple eyes glinted with hope, as if he found something he started looking for a long time ago, before he suppressed it and took two steps forward, moving his black coat and white hair to hide his face but yet he did seem a lot like Bakura.
"Stay out of my way!" he snapped at me before going around the corner. I just nodded my head in amazement that someone like that didn't kill me or jut plain beat me up for bumping into him. I got back up on my feet when something out of the corner of my eye. Some sort of metallic orb that was reflecting the sun light. I picked it up, golden with some sort of Egyptian eye on it 'where have I seen this eye before?' I wondered; I kept it in my hand about to give it back to the guy who I thought was the right full owner but the alarm on my watch came on; 5:14 pm! I was in such a hurry I skidded around the corners, and only just made it to the apartment in time. I collapsed on my bed the second I got in my room; I'm not the most athletic girl in the world so to run 150m knocked me out. I felt peaceful for a moment until-
"Kaiko Aki Arakaza! You have a lot of explaining to do!" my mum shouted at me as she busted the door to my room open. I felt like hiding behind a pillow, when she's angry she could crack a brick in two with a nail. And I don't mean a steel nail for wood and stuff like that; I mean her nail at the end of her finger tip. I backed up against the wall, grabbing my quilt for a feeling of safety.
"What.... what did I do?" I stuttered trying to avoid making eye contact with her, as I pulled my quilt over me. I was to scared to do anything else but just try and feel safe.
"Oh I don't know.... she started to say as well as to pace...Maybe your trip to the principle's office, maybe your phone getting confiscated, or maybe you replacing the 'beautification club' for the day" she continued sarcastically. I hated when she did that, her tone didn't sound much different so it was hard to tell when she was or wasn't doing it. I felt terrified and with that, hid my head under my cover an curled up into a ball, I couldn't take looking at her anymore.
"Oh is that how it's gonna be?" she seemed as if she was about to enjoy what she was about to do and there was no way I was. She pounced on me like a cat would a mouse and tried to grab my arms, and cut them with her razor sharp nails. I struggled with my legs as hard as I could and screamed "STOP IT WOMAN!" as a golden light emerged from my pocket and blinded me. when I could see properly again without those multicoloured patches like you get after looking directly at the sun, all I could see was cuts, bruises, and bite marks covering my arms and on the floor, my mum, lying there soullessly.
