The night was cold and Casean was barely breathing, he tought for sure that this was the end of his life. He felt so alone. He had just woken up there in the cold, the last thing he remembered was him sitting with his person be the fireplace and feeling a sharp pain in his back right hip. Now he was in the middle of no where. He closed his eyes in the intention of drifting away without pain. Right as he did he felt warm air on the back of his neck. He opened his eyes and tried to turn to look, but he fell unconsious trying too. Even though he was sleeping he could feel that he was being dragged through the snow by his collor. It felt like another dog was pulling him away from the storm.
He woke up a few hours later in a warm place, he looked around and saw that the ground was dirt instead of snow and that there was about a million pine tree limbs covering him like a roof. "Does anyone know anything about it?" Yeva asked the crowd. "Anything at all? The felled fawn down in the ravine?"
The deer surrounding her had eyes as wide and round as the moon, and just as distant. Large circular eyes with dark, full pupils. They would peek through the trees, look out from behind rocks. Some would openly gawk at her while others, content with grazing, flicked back an ear and diverted their eyes.
But the crowd would always grow, and she was counting on that. Yeva shifted the weight off of her bad leg, in turn lurching forward towards the crowd. She startled the does in doing so, however, causing some to sprint away and others to gasp and retreat into thicker grasses.
