“Cursed?” Ashley laughs as she holds up the small wooden jewelry box in her hands, “That’s a bad prank to play. This is the first time we’ve seen each other in years and you tell me what Mom told us to keep us out of her jewelry is true?”
“Yes,” Her younger sister Mallory replies with agitation as she pours herself another shot glass full from the bottle of liquor on the living room table, “The lawyer said mom left it to you in her will. I’m just delivering it.”
Ashley sighs as she looks it over, “I don’t want to go into how sorry I am again about not being there. Murphy’s law at its finest.”

“Thanks, in either case I wonder what’s in it?” Ashley comments as she undoes the latch with a soft click.
Mallory shrugs, “Well, it’s yours to see. Mom always did wear the prettiest jewelry.”
