Though Typhlosion has a similar appearance to that of an Ursaring, it has actually be discovered their closest living relatives are Dewgongs. One only need to look to the diet of a Typhlosion to uncover the reason for its bizarre appearance. Typhlosion feed primarily on Combees and honey from Combee hives. The average Combee can easily reach a foot in height, thus their hives are immense. As their hives are so grand, one hive can easily feed a few full grown Typhlosions regularly and still not collapse. The tongue of a Typhlosion is used to probe deep within honeycombs of the hive. The wax of the Combee hive, when consumed leads to a unique chemical reaction cause the saliva of Typhlosion to become flammable. They use their lengthy tongue to coat their mantle of quills, then using specialized "flint teeth", they crunch their teeth to produce sparks. The fire retardant coat and quills of a Typhlosion do not burn easily so once lit by their sparking jaws, they will put on quite the display for some time. Typhlosions have been observed ripping openings in hives, putting their entire head inside, leaving their body exposed. It is proposed that their flaming mantle quills were developed just for this behavior as Combees are much less inclined to attack something on fire. Not that it would do them much good regardless, Combee stings have little effect on a fully grown Typhlosion. The quills of the Typhlosion family can be shed when burned for too long(cinder quills), or come in contact with an attacker. As seen here, Typhlosion is demonstrating a baiting behavior. It will occasionally seek out Vespiquens and kill them to draw out many more Combees to slake its insatiable hunger even after it has gorged itself on honey. Typhlosions in captivity are known to be big ol' softies though, look at his cute face; you can't say no to that face.
Adolescent Typhlosions are known as Quilavas. Though Typhlosions exhibit an unprecedented length of parental care, Quilavas become very rebellious against their family group as they age. These youthful Typhlosions actively seek to find new hives, trying to establish themselves as independent. As a result of this these Pokemon are known for being difficult to deal with until they reach maturity. One can see here how a Quilava can chomp their teeth together to create a flurry of sparks to ignite their quills.
The infant stage of Typhlosion is known as a Cyndaquil. These very young Pokemon don't often leave the care of their nurturing parents. They quickly ween off their mother's milk in favor of honey. Cyndaquil seldom open their eyes in the care of they parents or trainers unless threatened. Look at how playful Cyndaquil is, Oddishes just don't get their sense of humor.
Oddish is a Plantiform. It was only scientifically observed 43 years ago that Oddish was anything more than a common flower bulb. Plantiforms are highly developed plants that blur the line between flora and fauna. They have the ability to move, albeit slowly, and even has rudimentary vision. Other confirmed Plantiforms include Exeggutor, Sunflora, and Roselia. These "living plants" are subject to intense scientific discussion, and lead to a reexamination of the vegan and vegetarian movements.
Though once thought to be a malevolent spirit, and in some circumstances a demonic dragon, Giratina is in actuality an extremely large arthropod Pokemon. Only one adult Giratina has even been confirmed by science to exist, however there are many unsubstantiated reports of them near the mouths of caves. The natural habitat of a Giratina is colloquially known as the distortion world, an exceptionally large, exceptionally deep cavernous pocket of heavy gases. This environment is where the larval stage, also known as origin forme, grow to gargantuan size. The heavy gases allow the sizable origin forme to float and almost fly through the dark, vast caverns it calls home. As the Pokemon matures, over an unknown, but great span of time, it will start to make its way closer and closer to the surface with each passing year. During this time, six of its poorly developed legs start to gain strength and girth to support the over-sized arthropod outside an environment submerged in dense gases. It is not known why Giratina seek out the surface, or why it has adapted to mimic the appearance of a dragon. The leading mind in the field profers that its because dragons are the coolest and no one messes with bad-ass dragons because they are the best.
Vanilluxe is an odd pokemon indeed. The Pokemon and its kin have been thought by some to appear as an ice cream cone. More realistically however, this adaptation allows Vanilluxe will bury its cephalothorax in snow or rocks and use its white, bulbous abdomen as camouflage when under threat. Most of its time is spent suspended in its web waiting for small pokemon to get caught, using their smiling face patterns to intimidate smaller members of its species. Mature adult Vanilluxe exhibit a straw-like protrusion from their rear, this acts as both a sexual organ and as spigot to release sub-freezing temperature gas, a byproduct of its digestive system. This gas super cools prey caught in the web, killing them faster and quieter so as to not alert as much attention to themselves and make them abandon their catch. The infant stage of a Vanilluxe is known as a Vanillite. Vanilluxes do not mind the presence of their young, though cannibalism has been observed in some particularly aggressive members of the species.
Crobat is the adult stage of infernal and omnipresent pest, Zubat. These Pokemon are quite uncommon, they require a strong bond with a partner Golbat or trainer. Having a partner allows them time to grow larger without threat of attack. As Zubats are so common, many children are given Zubats as baby's first Pokemon. The problem with owning a Zubat is that they grow very large over a short period of time. The households that can keep a Golbat are few and unfortunately once the Gobat has a very strong bond with the child, they develop into a Crobat. Crobats are simply too large and require much upkeep, as a result Crobats are often released into the wild. Some say the characteristic frown of a Crobat is because its heart was broken by the child it cared for so deeply.
Please allow a few moments for it to load all the way, its a big file. Boy this one took forever. The plan was to get this ready for sale at Fanime back in May, but that didn't work out. It was very difficult doing a skeletal for a pterosaur, as I've never really worked much with pterosaurs. I kinda just jumped in and tried to tackle it. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the payoff. There is one bone used here that does not occur in real pterosaurs, I think I'll call it an Aeroid. And now, the flavor text:
Aerodactyl is a very robust flying reptile from an era long since passed. The first fossils of this Pokemon were discovered 142 years ago by Charles Othniel Birch and Edward Drinker Oak. Its skull and wing were very well preserved in fossilized amber. In the advent of the high age of high technology, the same tech boom that lead to the creation of Pokeballs, science has discovered the ability to reconstruct fossils as living Pokemon. Once revived, there were several interesting things not predicted in paleoart; especially the barbed tongue. It had been long assumed that Aerodactyls would catch Pokemon in its jaws and take them to the ground to rip them apart with their massive jaws, however, it was discovered that Aerodactyls only use their mighty maw to engulf much smaller prey and use their barbed tongue to pull the Pokemon down its throat whole. Their barbed tongue is not unique, and not unlike those tongues of Braviaries and Pidgeots. Science was also surprised that Aerodactyl was not, as displayed in outdated paleoart, brown or tan, but in fact, he was FABULOUS with great purple wings. He is also furry, science didn't see that one coming; way to go science.
Archen is a much more recently discovered prehistoric Pokemon. They were the juvenile stage of the larger Archeops, a predecessor to the modern bird Pokemon. Archeops laid large clutches of eggs, sometimes yielding as many as 15 baby Archen. However Archeops are now known to be terrible parents, letting their kids fly all over the place. As pictured here, they a real treat for a hungry Aerodactyl.
Cranidos are infant Rampardos. Once this species was revived, it was discovered that both the adult and juvenile stages are very slow. Infact it is not uncommon to see a Cranidos easily keeping pace with a Rampardos. What they lack in speed, they more than make up for in power. Rampardos is capable of dealing a 16,500 PSI impact from their dome. The Cranidos shown here is much more content to trundle off than deal with that big purple son of a bitch.
Let it load a second, its a big gif. Wow this one took forever to get done. Tried a lot new here and really wanted to produce something spectacular. I hope you guys enjoy, here is the flavor text:
Groudon is among the very few surviving titans of old. There is thought to currently be only one Groudon left in the wild. There have been many stories claiming that Groudons were so mighty that they could shape continents and clear the skies, these of course are largely exaggerated. Groudon consumes large quantities of rock and digests specific minerals, expelling the remaining rock, super heated by his furnace like stomach, as lava. This has the effect of slightly altering the landscape. Groudon cannot actually cause the sun to super heat the atmosphere like proclaimed, his body produces waves of intense heat to his surroundings leading some to create the myth that he can control the sun. Little is known about their behavior, though its physiology might suggest aside from rock it is equipped to catch enormous fish or whales, as it possesses conical teeth and hook like claws on very powerful arms. The ecosystems in which Groudons have been discovered to once inhabited thrive yielding a very large diversity to the wildlife.
Magmar is the volcanic cousin of the much more common semi-aquatic Golduck. Though Magmars slightly more territorial and volatile than their cousins. There have been many documented attacks from Magmars, often as high as 300 burn victims a year claim to be attacked by a Magmar. Magmar is seen here fleeing the presence of Groudon with its young Magby precariously held by one ankle.
Magcargo and Slugma are terrestrial cephalopods, thought to be close relatives to Gastrodons. They are very common in volcanic cave systems. Though their bodies appear superficial soft and malleable, they can infact withstand and produce extreme temperatures. Slugma have even been seen hiding in plain sight atop a mound of lava. However there is a very rare subspecies with a silver coloration that cannot trick you, even though try really hard; they will always be losers.
Larvesta are the juvenile stage of the very impressive Volcarona. Volcarona are very dangerously near extinction as it can take as long as 59 months to full develop from a Larvesta stage. Larvesta are very large and thus very easy for predators to pick off when they undergo metamorphosis.
Torkoal are thought to be the cause of the severe decline in the Groudon population. Torkoal would move in herds akin to school of Carvanha, able to cleave all meat from a large animal in a very short period. There were migrations of as many as 800,000 Torkoals at one point. However the middle ages saw an end to the over populated Torkoal species as turtle shell soup became extremely popular. The species was depleted to the brink of extinction before it was made illegal to consume turtle shell soup. The Torkoal race is now on the return as their population grows slow and steady. Is this Torkoal the harbinger of this Groudon's demise?
Meganium is one of the largest fungivores in the Pokemon kingdom. The species has adapted a very long neck, which is quite flexible for its length, to be able to reach fungi growing on tree branches. Meganium will use their very sturdy beaks to gnaw through even the toughest bark to get to the fungal delight beneath. Meganium will almost always have what appear to be antennae, though in actuality it is a unique type of fungi growing from its nostrils. It is not known what relation ship the fungus has to Meganium, or how it specifically benefits either the fungus or the Meganium. Trainers are encouraged to expose their young Meganiums to the fungus as it may have unknown positive effects. A full grown Meganium male will have intensely pink colored frill of their shell. The more vibrant the pink and yellow of the frill, the more attractive the male is perceived. A female Meganium will exhibit a much duller pink, bordering on brown, shell frill.
A newborn to around sixteen year old Meganium is known as a Chikorita. Unlike an elder Meganium, a Chikorita develops a very tall, scaly crest. It is assumed that the crest is meant to mimic a leaf, perhaps resulting in camouflage for the little guy. Some theorize that the crest signifies youth to other members of the species, as the crest completely disappears by the time it gets to be around thirty years old. We see here that a Chikorita has engaged in combat to the death with that mushroom from the back of Paras.
Bayleef is a Pokemon. It is the adolescent stage of Meganium. It is a medium sized Pokemon. These are facts about Bayleef. The population of Meganiums in the wild has dwindled significantly in the past few decades thanks to the introduction of Paras to their habitats. Paras are the only other fungivore competitor to Meganium. A common fungi in the mycobiota of Johto, one quite harmless to Meganium, is actually a cordyceps fungus known as Tochukaso. Tochukaso targets Paras, and will take hold of a Paras' body, essentially turning it into a mindless drone. A Paras inflicted with this condition is known as a Parasect once the Tochukaso mushroom grows to full size. These cordyceps mushrooms help control the burgeoning Paras population by keeping them from reproducing or eating other fungi, however Paras multiply very rapidly and are still a threat to the ecosystem.
Foongus, as seen on the back of this Paras, is a very small Pokemon. Foongus has brought up very interesting scientific debate, scientists are not certain Foongus is a plantiform or just a fungus. They do move, however at a rate of about fifteen feet per year. Though the most interesting thing about them is their camouflage though. Foongus have only become a point of interest recently, when their pokeball-like camouflage developed. In the past two decades, Pokemon training has seen a huge surge in popularity of youths the world over, as has the littering of broken pokeballs across the country side. Pokemon have become very cautious around the appearance of a pokeball, as they do not want to be caught. It appears that Foongus has adapted this color pattern to take advantage of the natural wariness of other Pokemon species. As such, the numbers of Foongus have skyrocketed with few Pokemon eating them. There is another species of Pokemon that uses a similar camouflage in the Kanto area, scientists are still uncertain which species developed the trait first.
Celebi are known as "the guardian of the forest" in myths surrounding them. Some claim that Celebi are time travelers, however this claim is completely unsubstantiated. A more plausible explanation is that Celebi are so rare, they acquired a "legendary" reputation, stirring up all sorts of myths and rumors about it. When examined closely, one will see that Celebi is baller as frick.
The MOST EPIC!!!! Its flame can reach 3000 degrees Celsius. Their fur is soft, orange and black striped orange tail, close to white. It is a brave and loyal nature besides majestic. He has a great sense of honor. Among his main skills is of high speeds, great leaps and an excellent sense of smell that is used to track people and lost, so it is often trained as a police dog. Known for his speed is able to run more than 10,000 miles a day. The inner fire is the source of energy that keeps you active during the day. Stands out as having a high level of attack and very balanced characteristics. His upbringing is very difficult for a rookie coach, requires great care, patience, hard to pull this Pokémon forth their full potential in both battles, contests or other event, so it is recommended to raise him from Growlithe, besides being a Pokémon large, need a lot of food and water. If properly trained it will be one of the most powerful Pokémon in the team.
Often used to attack the mouth and head, although sometimes assails the whole body, as when he attacks with extreme speed. Interestingly, it is said that the age of an Arcanine is determined by the length of his fangs.
Another fact which highlights the nobility and love of these Pokémon is reflected in the deep love for the Ninetales, with paired once shared their lives forever. Because this has created the legend of reach break her heart, keeping them a part and giving the other to Ninetales.
^^ ooooh cute It's very nice, loving, loyal and fearless, has a great sense of honor. To ward off the enemy begins to bark, and breathe fire. It is also known for the great loyalty to his coach, who recognized his voice and smell. If Growlithe lost smell and hearing would be unable to recognize his coach.
It is commonly trained by Jenny Officers / Agents Kanto and Johto Mara to work with their agents as a support as it is very fair. It is an imitation of police dogs used in reality.
This Pokémon can also be a pet, living in a house and have a life as a Pokémon from home, but also used to be with the kids and working as a messenger in nurseries or in small towns. Pokémon are very tender and I love playing for this reason it is more common to see one as a pet as a Pokémon trainer.
Although it is also a good choice for a coach as it is a very docile Pokémon, strong and with good movement, not counting Arcanine evolves into one of the best Fire-type Pokémon that exist. His breeding is relatively easy, if properly cared for and trains can be a very strong Pokémon.
epic!! A Pidgeot he can be found in the wild, but it's hard watching one, and if you try to capture will be reluctant, however, to Pidgey and Pidgeotto are Pokémon that they come to find in various forests, very easily. Your flight ability is amazing and can reach more than a kilometer high and reach twice the speed of sound. It can detect a prey even at 1,000 meters high. In appearance it is very like his preevolución Pidgeotto, only unlike this is a little bigger and are distinguished by the feathers on the head that wears Pidgeot, are larger, the center is a yellow and its tail is orange. Their greatest enemies are Fearow and Staraptor since both attack their preevolutions and this Pokémon will not hesitate to protect them with all his strength. According to the Pokédex, a blizzard can stop with a few thanks to the vigorous flapping its wing muscles.
Their diet is based usually in water type Pokémon. Finneon, and Goldeen Krabby, however, chances are that caze 50%. While their favorite prey is Magikarp.
epic This is a Pokémon that you can easily see on plains, typically located in numerous herds of dozens of individuals. It has three lines that help you gain great speed and balance, it also has a thick mane that is useful to cover in unfavorable climates and three beads on his forehead which onslaught to help cushion and protect themselves from being broken neck. They can be seen near some villages similar to the Midwest. Shaped like a bull. As always male, Miltank supports to match. Pokémon Tauros is excellent if you want to train him as his great strength and extreme attack speed give a powerful advantage to beat the opponent with a single blow, and this should be borne in mind that it is extremely durable, this makes it one of the best Pokémon, able to match his strength with Dragonite and Metagross is why many coaches enjoy to catch one.
Salamence enjoys his first moments of flight in the skies of Hoenn!
A pokemon redesign for Creature of the Week! Salamence is one of my favourite pokemon so I had to have a go at him! I like him not just because he is a badass but he also exemplifies what happens when you never give up on your dreams!
The fire starter from here blue-hearts.deviantart.com/art… so much gold and red. This actualy was based off a design me and my friend Howl did a year or two ago when we were playing Pokemon Ruby through to Black and complaining about how some of the starters could be better designed, so we made our own. :3
EDIT [24/10/2013]: Because I have become a little tired of the old style I used to have back in April/May of 2012, I have decided to update it a bit more, get rid of the armour Rougarou wore and made them all a bit more fiery/flying. Old Version here.
#001. Fenfire A fire type pokémon, which is known for its loyalty and obedience to its trainers. They are determined little pokémon, sometimes a little hot headed. The small striped feathers on its back and neck fluff out when in battle to make them appear larger than they actually are. There are occasionally black Fenfires, which are in fact shiny versions but often mistaken for a different type of pokémon. Types: Fire Moves: Growl, Bite, Flame Wheel. Height: 0.33 m, 1’08’’ft Weight: 14 lb, 6 kg Evolves into: Luperca at lv 24
#002. Luperca Luperca, is a fast Fire/Flying type pokémon with a small set of striped feathery wings and tail feathers. They are better at short sprints when flying than long distance, which they combine tactics for hunting by dive-bombing and fire-balling targets at the same time. Luperca's hot temper means that it’s easily offended or enraged by other pokémon using moves such as taunt, but won’t attack unless told so. Types: Fire/Flying Moves: Fly, Flamethrower, Flare Blitz Height: 1.2 m, 3’11’’ft Weight: 56 lb, 25 kg Evolves into: Rougarou at lv 56
#003. Rougarou Rougarou is the final evolution of Fenfire. It is a large pokémon which is surprisingly light for its size. The long streaming feathers are used for both display and flying, though they are longer in male Rougarous and their facial markings cover more of their face. Their ability Solarstorm is their signature move and often results in critical hits, and is quite spectacular to watch. Types: Fire/Flying Moves: Blue Flame, Hurricane, Solarstorm Height: 1.8 m, 5’03’’ft Weight: 110 lb, 50 kg Evolves into: No more evolutions. Final Evolution of Fenfire.
Name Roots: (Note I havent always followed the traditional pokemon naming style because its difficult to get nice sounding names) Fenfire - Fenrir/Fenris (Wolf) + Fire Luperca - Lupercalia, wolf festival (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupercal… Rougarou - Rougarou, werewolf/ French: Rouge - Red, Garous -Werewolf.

Edit [12/05/13] Revamped Nerite and Nereid's appearances. Edit [24/10/13]: Because I have become a little tired of the old style I used to have back in April/May of 2012, I have decided to update it a bit more and make them all a bit better looking. I'm updating all the starters. Old Version:
#004. Naiad A water type Pokémon, which lives in rivers. Naiads rarely spend time out of the water for very long and are quite cumbersome on land, but when in the water their stats are greatly boosted. They are intelligent, learning new abilities quickly but also will sometimes will not follow orders based on their own judgement. The white markings on its face and back are different on every Naiad but will usualy remain the same as it evolves. Types: Water Moves: Bubble Beam, Aqua Jet, Dive Height: 0.50 m, 1`6`` ft Weight: 6.3 kg, 13.8 lb Evolves into: Nerite at lv 28
#005. Nerite the evolved form of Naiad, Nerite is far larger than its previous form and will carry the same eye markings as its predecessor. They are capable of learning Surf from level 36 upwards. Nerites' are strong willed and even after being beaten they will still try and fight if they think they have a chance at winning. Types: Water/Dragon Moves: Hydro Cannon, Hyper Beam, Dragon Breath Height: 2.20 m, 7`2`` ft Weight: 36 kg, 79.3 lb Evolves into: Nereid at lv 60
#006. Nereid the final evolution of Naiad. Nereid is a huge water/dragon type pokémon which can create huge storms when angered, but will also help pokémon who have been caught up in the storms. They can be used to deep sea dive and catch other water pokemon, and bring them up to the surface. Types: Water/Dragon Moves: Maelstrom, Surf, Dragon Rush. Height: 4.70 m, 15'4'' ft Weight: 146 kg, 321.8 lb Evolves into: No more evolutions it is the final form of Naiad. Dragonair is a long, serpentine Pokémon covered in blue scales along its back and a bright white underside. Its violet eyes are dark and glossy. It has a smooth, rounded snout and a small horn in the middle of its forehead. Its head is flanked by two stylized wings, each white and curving into a swirl. It has distinct blue orbs on its lower neck and near the tip of its tail
Pokémon Cubone is a little lonely, because his mother died when he was born, so has the skull of his mother in the head. It is believed that as a weapon-bearing bone is the femur of his mother, but is still not known. Many times you see a resemblance of it in the full moon and cries. The stains on the skull are made by using cascading tears. This Pokémon attacks are mainly based on ground type attacks, but most direct attacks focus on using his bone as huesomerang. He was never seen without his dead mother's skull so it is unknown how may be the face of this Pokémon.
To evolve Cubone's skull breaks his mother and his head wearing adult takes shape with his own skull (If your child is female inherit his skull in the same way that she inherited his).
At birth is a little weak but eventually strengthens. It has very strong legs, which develop from birth, their hooves are stronger than diamond. Coaches Beginners often use, as they are very rare, and if they are treated well are docile. They live in grasslands where it is common to see them running. At birth their legs are very weak but a few minutes become so strong that they can charge an adult without much effort. They can run long distances without tiring. When I train, it's best to hone his speed and special attacks as well in combat can dodge enemy attacks and attack most likely to win a fight, even with benefits type Pokémon.
The flames in his mane and tail serve defense, and only those considered enemies burn or do not know.
Ponyta is a Pokémon that has been domesticated to help people as transportation
Guess who watched Pokemon Origins~?? I DID. Anyway I boarded the feels train again and all my memories playing PKMN FireRed came back to me . Ah nostalgia :') Sweet, sweet memories.
