A king of Dinosaurs has returned...Just this year, something mind-blowing just happened in paleontology. First, let me tell some history behind this reportMore Like This
In 1903, it was declared that Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus were the same Sauropod Dinosaur. The genus Apatosaurus stuck because that is what it was called first.
However, in 2015, studies on some additional remains actually classified the two Apatosaurine Diplodocid Sauropods are separate genera from the same time (Late Jurassic) and location (Morrison Formation, USA).
This means Brontosaurus (one of the most iconic Dinosaurs ever) is no longer a junior synonym of Apatosaurus, but once again a separate species!
To quote a wise Baboon, "The king has returned."
