Real WomenEarlier in the night, while browsing recently submitted artwork, I came across the self-portrait of a scantily clad woman whose deviation's title read as: "Real Women Have Muffintops".More Like This
Irresistibly, I addressed her generalization. "You have an attractive physique, but you shouldn't -- with your title -- funnel your perception of 'real women' into a single body type."
I normally scroll by artwork (or in this case a title) that conveys a flaw. Sometimes, however, the inclination to gainsay is strong. To claim that a certain physique validates a woman's realness elevates her self-image, while demeaning others. I'm perfectly fine with a person taking pride in their physical appearance -- however far it may stray from the norm -- but I cannot respect someone who goes about it selfishly.
I figure she'll ignore my comment, or reply contentiously.
