Eventually Leslie’s resolve broke. The moment mention was made of the Beauregards throwing a decently-sized to-do in celebration of Daniel Beauregard’s new promotion, she deigned to venture out of her room. She wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to socialize at the party, but it would give her the chance to talk to Stephanie Beauregard again. Stephanie was one of the only friends Leslie had who was older than she, and what was more, Steph had only recently landed a job working as an intern orderly at Arkham Asylum.
If anyone will be able to talk to me and help me make sense of how to handle some super-criminal in my life, it should be Steph, Leslie reasoned. Or if nothing else, Steph would be sympathetic to her plight. So Leslie dolled herself up not for a formal bash, but a potential girls’ night out. She left for the party quite a bit earlier than the rest of her family; she d

The small, wiry child gave a jump, his spine going rigid as he sat completely upright, still clutching his pillow to his chest.
"Uh-oh... busted..." He muttered to himself under his breath, before slowly turning and blinking large amber eyes up at his mother. Julia Vibaro loomed in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room, arms crossed and brandishing a cooking spoon in one hand. She eyed her son in a squint, mouth working slowly as she awaited his response. Luiz attempted a sheepish grin, but the effect was ruined by his pointed canine teeth, which were much longer and larger than most kids' his age.
"Luiz, what have I told you about sitting in front of that television?" She demanded, her tone weary and exasperated as she gestured with the spoon. "That screen will ruin your eyes and all of that garbage will rot your brain, mi hijo!"
"But Mamá, it's the news!" He protested, giving his tail a thump against the flo

Several people looked up as the door in the hideout slammed, wincing slightly. The boss had gone on a date with the woman they knew as Wraith and if his reaction was anything to go off of, it hadn’t gone well.
“I’m not surprised,” someone snarked. “She looked like high-maintenance trouble the second she walked in.”
Mystery’s head snapped up and she glared darkly around the room, quelling the small bit of laughter that had started up. Instantly everyone refused to meet her eyes, save for the ever-silent mercenary known as Phantom and of course Kwiz Kid, who was glaring along with Mystery. The two teens finally exchanged a look and rose from their respective seats to go into the Riddler’s “office”, Phantom trailing along in their wake.
“Boss?” Mystery asked at the same moment Kwiz said “Sir?” They exchanged another look, one of utmo

Cameron Makhent tried to fix his problem more than once, but trying to find guys who could hang with him was more or less a lost cause by now. Still, it would have been nice to have some company on this trip to the H.A.E.Y.P. school. He hadn’t been there before, but he had expected things to be more exciting than, well…
More exciting than finger sandwiches.
“Is everything to your liking, gentlemen?” Brother Blood asked in a svelte way. Cameron had to refrain from making a smart-ass remark, mostly because he knew his father would immediately make him regret saying it. But he was still sorely tempted.
“I don’t know, Blood,” Sportsmaster said, rather acidly, “I don’t know if these little cucumber sandwiches are girly enough.”
“Would you put a sock in it?” Icicle Sr. shot his friend a look of deepest annoyance befor

Chapter 1: Angels Don’t Need Shotguns
Sometimes Anthony Smith felt like an absolutely horrible brother. It wasn’t that he actually was a horrible brother; in fact, he was quite a peace-maker among his siblings and highly compassionate and tuned in to the feelings and needs of his family. But when he let someone down, it hit him pretty hard, and he wasn’t one to let go of that easily. And most recently, he had let down his younger sister, Leslie.
“If you keep agonizing over it, you’re going to give yourself wrinkles, Tony.” A voice to his right spoke in a rather condescending way as he surrendered his keys to let the valet park his Hummer. He turned and glared down at his elder brother, Steven, who was busy brushing back his hair in a somewhat vain manner. It was rather rich of his brother, Tony felt, to be making casual remarks about agonizing over upsetting their sister. After all, Tony wouldn’t have
Horror Kiss drabble - Cameron It was remarkable really, how stupid and deluded these self-prolaimed "Titans" were, thinking they had some impenetrable "hideout." Because some secret base called "Mount Justice" just couldn't possibly be a dead give-away, now could it?More Like This
Outside, the rain poured relentlessly, and echoes of it upon the surface of the water could be heard within the cave. The lights would flicker on occasion, but as far as Cameron was concerned, there wasn't anything to be worried over. Unfortunately, it appeared his friend didn't share his sentiments.
"If the power goes out, we are gonna be in it, Cam, and I mean in it." He spoke in his low, accented voice, picking his strides carefully as they moved to evade the security cameras.
"Don't tell me you're scared, Paxton." He scoffed in response.
"Of course I'm not scared," the army brat snapped back, "But did you bring anything to use in case of a blackout?"
That gave Cameron some pause. Truthfully, he hadn't anticipated that
Horror Kiss drabble - Paxton A definite retreat was in order this time. It had been stupid to come here in the first place, not that Paxton would have said that to Cameron. He generally trusted his wiry friend to be the stealthy one and work out the covert stuff, and in any case, he didn’t have it in him at the moment to say that to Cameron anyway. He had only caught a glimpse of what had happened, but it was enough. He knew fully and well how his friend felt about the girl called Squall, and to see her kissing that overly-sensitive grunt with the Mohawk… Paxton had been afraid Cameron would pass out and had lunged to catch his friend.More Like This
And now they had to find a way out of the cave, without being spotted. He doubted Squall and Killowat would provide any trouble, wrapped up in one another as they were. But he had to watch his six anyhow; Cam could barely move on his own, and those two weren’t the only Titans lurking about the place that could run into them

"Are you okay?" He asked uncertainly.
"THOSE TWO." Brother Blood hissed, the ravenous tone all too obvious in his voice as he pressed his nose to the glass, looking directly at Tommy Terror and the redheaded girl he had an arm around. "THEIR SEXUAL TENSION IS UNBEARABLE. IS THERE ANOTHER BOY IN HER LIFE? I NEED TO KNOW. THERE HAS TO BE; WHY ELSE WOULD THEY HAVE SUCH NATURAL TENSION AND CHEMISTRY?"
Control Freak slowly lowered his pencil, an eye twitching nervously. "Uh, maybe you should chill, man. Not everything needs to be a love triangle."
"WE COULD MAKE IT ONE." came the hiss of unbridled wicked glee.
"Mind control doesn't count." Control Freak rem

Chapter 11: A Sense of Foreboding
Chase didn’t always keep her thoughts to herself. It was hard to anyway, when you lived in the same home as two telepaths. She was rather used to talking with the other Institute girls as well, especially the newer recruits. But sometimes she just had to quell certain thoughts and hide them even from herself.
She wasn’t ready for everyone at the Institute to know she was afraid.
Walking through the halls of Bayville High, she mulled through her thoughts. The worst part was she wasn’t even sure what she felt so afraid of. Trying to figure it out was like trying to grasp smoke; as soon as she thought she had it, it would slip between her fingers. The constant chatter and rushing bodies in the hallway didn’t help to stimulate her brainstorming either. Irritated, she forced her way through the halls to her class. Arriving at the Photography Level I classroom, she dropped her books at her des
A random Crystal one shot thingThe room was packed, hundreds of people milling about and socializing. Eating, drinking, laughing; all the usual signs of a good time had by all. Crystal tried to ignore most of it.More Like This
Like many times before, Crystal had picked up on the quiet music in the background, creating an ambiance for the room, and she lost herself in it. She probably didn't notice the fact that she swayed in place to the melody, or that her head bobbed with the rhythm. She was lost, and honestly not wanting to be found. Music had always been her thing, her escape. It took away the pain, sorrow, anger. Anything and everything she needed to forget, music could replace.
Unfortunately, in a room so full and loud with chitter chatter, her escapes were always temporary.
"Crystal? Crystal, dear, your drink."
Crystal's eyes opened and looked first to her mother, eyeing Crystal curiously. Then Crystal noticed her hand felt wet, and looking down at her glass and the floor, sh
