WARNING! This is actually serious, and contains politics. If you don't want to see me in a serious light and keep me at goofball Kobold Necromancer, you might want to stand clear.
EDIT! As of yesterday and continuing into today, thousands of people in Kabul and Afghanistan have set fire to American flags and other things, and shouted, "Death to America!" And the Koran burning has been called off. That's right, these people are demonstrating the utmost hatred and disgust for something that is not going to happen.
And we're supposed to be nice to them? These people want our blood, our heads, over a suggestion. But of course, any time you bring it up, people act like we must make sure it's not all Muslims. Well hell, I know that not all white people are racist when some moron shoots his stupid mouth, or not all men are racist when some jerk makes a chauvinist of himself.
If you're not burning the flag on 9/11 and you're not shouting, "Death to America" on our holiday, then you're not the problem and we don't hate you! Muslims should be denouncing the creeps who take their hatred to the extreme, not criticizing America because of what some of our civilians do.
Anyone who burns the American flag on 9/11 deserves a lot of things I don't want to say here. Gah, such frustration! I need a soda. Mmm, soda.
I was getting ready for a class at college when my mother came home in tears, after dropping off my little brother at school. I remember people at the college wondering if we were at war. Class was cancelled, and I watched several hours of news.
It was one of the worst attacks on our countries, over three thousand died. Innocent people living out their lives.
A couple things that have set me on the edge. One is the huge effort by some media stations and people I know who want to forget 9/11, and act like it's stupid news not worth reliving. Another is the argument people try to make that we (America) deserved it and that we do worse things.
The third and final is the idea of building a mosque next to Ground Zero, and anyone against it is a stupid, racist, evil, hate mongering, war mongering, anti-Muslim creep.
If building a mosque next to Ground Zero is the PC thing to do (because we all know we should be nice to the people who caused us pain), I have a few ideas. Since we should appease to those that attacked us, here are other plans we should set into motion:
Cover the Vietnam Memorial Wall with communist flags.
Build a shrine on Pearl Harbor, one that also remembers the Nazi party.
Display the Confederate Flag in public from now on.
Reimburse Britain for that tea we threw into the harbo(u)r.
Now, you can argue that "Islam is not our enemy" all you want. But so long as the fanatics keep trying to murder us, we should not appease them. You do not apologize to the enemy, you do not try to make nice with the enemy. For the moment you start letting the enemy get what they want, you let them start to control you.
It's grade school bully mentality. "I'll be nice, just don't hit me!" and "Don't hit the bully, that's mean, and he might start hitting me if he doesn't hit you!"
I will remember 9/11, regardless of several people telling me personally that we should all forget it. I plan to be happy this 9/11, and count my blessings. Heck, I should do that every day, but I feel I can kick it into high gear what with everything going on.
That's all the politics and current events I want to get into. Now, I just want to pay my respects today and all other days following for the country that lets me say these things, lets me live a great life, and will fight the enemy that caused this tragedy (and also has prevented any follow-ups in NINE years, think about that.)
Oh, and while I love America, I also want to say that Canada, Australia, Britain, Japan, Israel, and many other countries out there rock too. Who knows? Maybe one day, we'll all get along.
