Environment for two old temples. Basically I wanted to go for a more cinematic feel in this one, so I went for a perspective that looks 'up' to the buildings to make them more 'epic'. I also added some upward lens flares to push them even more. I wanted to avoid going too symmetrical so if you look closer you'll see that the temples are actually not exact copies of each other. They aren't really parallel either so I had to use two perspective grids.
This image is an illustration of the upper town of Axculho, the village of my bachelor thesis in ‘Design’. The web site Axculho.com is the result of three steps: Worldbuilding, Concept Art and Illustrations. I created a new world, designed a small town and then made illustrations for the main characteristics of one nation.
Here is the link where you can see the illustration in context: Axculho.com

The brief was just to create a massive scene that featured multiple terrains, and people performing various tasks like, building, hunting, trading etc.. It was to be set in a medieval time frame with a subtle fantasy feel.
I was excited and overwhelmed but it was a very satisfying job to complete. The layout was established quickly for approval then I set forth to gather reference material. This mostly consisted of medieval miniatures.
