Moraine Lake sometime in July of 2013 (another reprocessed shot). Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. We had decided last minute to go to Banff for the weekend, resulting in arriving to Lake Louise sometime well after midnight. So, my sister an I slept in the back of the truck in the parking lot, on a piece of plywood that we were using as a kind of bunk bed - all our gear was underneath it. Though I am not a tall person, that piece of plywood was too short for me. Brandon slept in the cab! We had our dogs with us, and they kept grumbling and growling as strangers walked by the vehicle back to their hotels - late partiers coming from the bar. One time, I shushed my sister's German Shepherd, only to have Ash (my sis) tell me that I was shushing some guy that was outside of the truck! Since I was buried in my sleeping bag, I guess I couldn't tell the difference between a man's voice, and Kilo's growl. Needless to say, we didn't really get any sleep. Maybe an hour, but I don't recall actually waking up. We raced to Moraine Lake the next morning for sunrise, only to find we were there too late - we had never been there before, and didn't realize there was a small walk up to the viewpoint (didn't know where we were going). So, we grabbed some shots from down at the spot depicted above, spotted the path, and proceeded to sprint up the steps to the view point. My legs felt like they were made of lead, I'm assuming from hunger and sleep deprivation (Edit on this: last night I was told it was because of high elevation/lack of oxygen while running up the rock pile stairs). Let's just say, this super popular area is still on my to-do list of shots to get!
Here we are! Another portrait inspired The Last of Us, of the beautiful Ellie. I was also inspired by the extremely creepy Cordyceps fungus (which in turn inspired the disease in the game) and tried to work in that motif. I've gotten wonderful comments from both Sony/Playstation and Naughty Dog, so I am really hoping to do artwork for all the amazing TLOU characters sometime. If you haven't checked out this game, I HIGHLY recommend it! It's on PS3 and will be coming to PS4 in a remastered edition as well.
