This scene took place in my story called Lisa's adventures at the Wonderplant, where Lisa was forced to work at the nuclear station under control of mr. Burns. Bart saved Lisa from Burns mansion and Lisa told him truth about her humiliating position.

At that point Bart's life is a complete mess, he broke up with some of his girlfriends, lost some of his jobs, he's not okay. With Lisa they become closer to each other after he learned her secret and here she just trying to comfort him when he got some bad news.

Seems like this one's one of my best fanart I've done so far...and it's not even in my usual colouring style with all the rainbow colours all over! :eager:
Had the idea while taking a bath and listening to 80s radio, I don't know why...maybe I should have listening to my Simpsons Sing the Blues or Yellow Album instead :XD:
My two favourite characters from the Simpsons: Lisa and Maggie. I like Lisa, because we have a lot in common. We are veggies, play music, safe nature and always good at school ^^
And I like Maggie, because she cannot talk yet, but you always know what she means. I have a life-size doll of her :D
Anyway I really like the Simpsons, the episodes from the mid 90s - early 2000s are the best in my opinion, BUT I like Futurama a bit more ;)

Watercolor proved difficult once again. Should've known better. I'm not quite happy with this technically but I got the composition, arrangement of characters and mood down the way I wanted so that's good.
In case you're wondering why Barney's hand is ridiculously huge: a bee bit Barney's palm so now his palm is big.

For me, the Simpsons is more than a simple comic family. They have brought us Fun, Knowledge, Drama, sad Moments, Horror and much more (for so long time). All things which can also be given by a real person in our world. So can´t we draw the conclusion, that the Simpson family seems to be real? I mean, they influence our world (like the Duff Beer).

Some Information: First I took the photo, and then I draw all Characters and added them to the photo with a graphic program (yes, also Flanders, Milhouse, Apu and Krusty).

Unless you really don’t know this, this is the famed Deep Submergence Vehicle the SeaQuest, the featured ship of the same named TV show back in the 1990s.

To those who do not know, SeaQuest DSV was basically Star Trek: The Next Generation, underwater. Their mission was to explore the depths, protect the United Earth Oceans (UEO), patrol the peace, and such things. Some will say that is a glib statement but this is just a synopsis; check out the series for yourselves and come to your own conclusions and no one else’s.

It was famous because Uber-Director Steven Spielberg was involved in its production creating a tremendous amount of hype in its conception at the time. The fact that the late and great Roy Schneider of Jaws and Blue Thunder fame was starring as the Captain of this ship – one Nathan Hale Bridger, only added to the furore.

Alas the series went down the ratings faster than the banks blowing the world economy with its silly stories, unnecessary cuteness, schmaltz, a talking dolphin, and annoying brainy kid; plus silly plots and uninspiring ideas including encountering Neptune, giant crocodiles, aliens, and psychics made it a joke. Hell, even some of the cast detested this series. Despite these factors, the show made it to two seasons.

The third series, SeaQuest 2032 tried to be darker and grittier with a new leader, one Captain Oliver Hudson, who was to put it bluntly, a bully and a hard ass. It also incorporated politics with new enemies in the form of a New Australian super power called the Macronesian Alliance, and a Chinese based threat known only as the Chaodai. It was more basic and action packed but still felt somewhat deflated.

Half way through that, the series was cancelled and the show was left in the air.

Having said that there is some tiny appeal of the series, and I felt it needed a finale; a way to give it a Viking’s burial; think the ending of Blake’s Seven, hence why I did this pic.

Here, the SeaQuest with a Naval 18 sub I call the SeaBat, investigate a possible raid by Chaodai forces. The SeaQuest was once beaten by the Chaodai but later returned the favour.

In 2033 (this is where my fiction comes in) the Chaodai attack the Macronesians for their incursions into their territories; as a result, Macronesian Alliance President Alexander Bourne is killed, throwing the Alliance into chaos. They turn to the UEO for help and as a result, the UEO patrol captured Chaodai territory. The Chaodai do not like this. Hudson challenges them.

The battle is a setback for the Chaodai but they regroup. Supported by the SeaBat, commanded by his love, Elaine Morse, they enforce the area. However, the Chaodai are not fools or do they tolerate humiliation. They re-draw a counter plan of action and lure the SeaQuest and the SeaBat to fight. When they do, Hudson launches his subfighters with Chaodai defector Heiko Kimura leading the assault.

However, the Chaodai are aware of Kimura’s betrayal and service, and retaliate with a massive task force of Chaodai subfighters. In the fight, the SeaQuest and the SeaBat take a hell of a beating, despite improved weapons and technology.

Then the SeaBat is crippled despite its wave riding hull and stealth abilities. Hudson orders the launch of rescue subs to get the SeaBat crew whilst the SeaQuest defends the operation. In the process they prepare for emergency speed and open up the second intakes.

Alas, a number of Chaodai plasma torpedoes get into the intake and hits the reactor. The end result is the crippling of the SeaQuest.

Then things go from bad to worse.

The explosion ruptures the structure of the SeaQuest, knocks out its power, and kills a lot of the crew; Kimura is killed in battle, losing their ace. Then the SeaQuest starts to lose integrity and comes apart, destroying the docking sphere. Finally the Seabat is destroyed, killing all aboard including Hudson’s love. Her last message is a scream.

The SeaQuest is doomed. The Chaodai see an opportunity for vengeance and do their utmost to kill this DSV. As the hulls rupture, the structure breaks up, and the SeaQuest sinks, all aboard know they are finished, and this is the end. Most do nothing except wait for the inevitable. A few record some messages hoping one day their loved ones may hear this.

Oliver Hudson sits in his chair looking ahead, looking at his crew. He says “We did our duty, we should be proud. I am proud to have served with all of you.”

No one acknowledges him; his actions have doomed them all. Hudson realises his arrogance has cost them all and sits silent deflated, all eyes looking at him with a mix of rage, and pity.

A few minutes later, the SeaQuest implodes. There is little left, nothing major.

Days later, the UEO surrenders to the Chaodai.

The effects here I wanted to make the ships feel like they are coming apart, that there is no hope for the crew, that this is the end and no more; that their death is going to be nasty and to show that arrogance is a dangerous thing.

Also again I wanted to dabble in another undersea pic.

As for the Chaodai, I just went by memory – for some reason they piloted ships that looked very Minbari Fighter like.

Like to hear your thoughts, comments always welcomed.

A Guide To Good-Looking Fire Breathers

Tue Apr 28, 2015, 11:37 AM
Img-00 by techgnotic

The dragon is a staple of so many fantasy stories that it can be difficult to keep up with them all.

Dragons in different universes abide by different rules; some are friendly, some are clever, some are pure evil, and some are trainable. What all dragons have in common is that in the realm of TV and movies, they need to look good to properly play their part in the story. There are hundreds of dragons that have shown up on screens throughout the years, so while this list does not claim to be any kind of definitive guide, these are five of our favorite representations of dragons on screen.

Smaug

There’s plenty not to like in the recent three-part film adaptation of The Hobbit. That isn’t to say the films didn’t have any redeeming qualities, though. Among them was Smaug, the dragon whose residence inside The Lonely Mountain is central to the story’s plot; bungling this character would have detracted from the quality of the overall series so immensely that it would’ve rendered the films more or less unwatchable. Smaug was well portrayed, as far as we’re concerned. He was majestic, powerful, and above all, clever. Credit is due to Benedict Cumberbatch, who voiced the dragon, but more than anything to the graphics team that brought Smaug to life.

His movements all appear lifelike and believable. Live-action dragons are extremely tough to make realistic, as evidenced by the almost limitless number of films and TV shows that have failed to do it well. The Hobbit films succeed brilliantly though, and viewers don’t have to suspend their disbelief one bit to be moved by this compelling creature.

Every Dragon In ‘How to Train Your Dragon’

One of the most impressive things about Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon is the sheer number and variety of dragons in the film. By creating different classes of dragons in a world where seeing a dragon is almost as common as seeing a pigeon, the animators had a hefty workload, but managed to create a myriad of unique, fantastically cartoonish dragons — each one of them a character worth getting to know.

Haku

Haku in Spirited Away has a special place on this list for being the only dragon who thoroughly stole our hearts away. Throughout the movie Haku aids and defends our protagonist, Chihiro, whose love ultimately saves his life. It isn’t just Haku and Chihiro’s relationship that makes this dragon special though.

At one point in the film, Haku is being pursued by a small air force of deadly-fast paper planes. He flies around and dodges them as long as he can in a memorable chase scene that delivers some of the most breathtaking animation in an already visually overwhelming film. Haku’s pure optic majesty — not out of the norm considering that the film was made by Studio Ghibli — and good-heartedness earns him high marks in our book.

Drogon, Rhaegal, Viserion

The dragons on Game of Thrones are special, no two ways about it. First, let's consider the fact that Daenerys Targaryen hatched three supposedly dormant dragon’s eggs into living, (fire) breathing dragons through some bizarre fire ritual we still don’t fully understand. It’s one of the more interesting origin stories in recent memory. The dragons get bigger and more ferocious with every season of the show, and charting that evolution presents the animators who make them with a unique challenge.

Still, they manage to make Rhaegal, Viserion, and Drogon some of the best-looking dragons that have ever graced the screen. Not skimping on production quality is what makes Game of Thrones the groundbreaking TV fantasy series that it is, and that philosophy applies to the show’s winged fire breathers, too.

Maleficent

Credit where credit is due: Maleficent, aka the wicked-witch-turned-dragon in Sleeping Beauty, might just be the scariest dragon to ever be featured in a film. She screams of “all the powers of hell!” before turning into a black and purple dragon who spits green fire. As the forest of thorns she recently created is engulfed, the interplay between colors — yellow and green flames, with black silhouettes contrasting against them in the foreground — makes the climactic fight scene in this film a visual feast. Maleficent set the standard for Hollywood dragons, and she continues to be a reliable benchmark even after almost 60 years.

Your Thoughts

  1. We left video games out because their addition would really make this a complicated race, but who are some of your favorite video game dragons?
  2. Who is your favorite TV or movie dragon? Did your dragon make our list or would you have picked five completely different ones?
  3. No mythical creature commands quite the same amount of fanfare, awe, and fascination as the dragon. Why do you think the dragon is so pervasive in human culture?
  4. Is poor “Puff” still waiting in his cave for Jackie to visit?

The dragon is a staple of so many fantasy stories that it can be difficult to keep up with them all. Dragons in different universes abide by different rules; some are friendly, some are clever, some are pure evil, and some are trainable. What all dragons have in common is that in the realm of TV and movies, they need to look good to properly play their part in the story. There are hundreds of dragons that have shown up on screens throughout the years, so while this list does not claim to be any kind of definitive guide, these are five of our favorite representations of dragons on screen.

All components are my own design.
This took some time to make.
I used Photoshop to draw the textures. Using the rendering tool and the plastic and chrome it is possible to make beautiful seascapes. The the distortion tool is very inspiring for making unnatural waves.
The plashing water is a result of a lot of dots pushing and  pulling and disturbing over and over again in different layers.
The window is created with Sketchup and later painted with Photoshop. The glass and reflection are also painted afterwards.
If you like it. Please leave a comment.
