Demon Hunter Vex-PrologueIt seemed to be the greatest insult to the struggling people of the Lower City that the most vunerable of all the citizens, the orphans, should be housed in one of the most dilapidated buildings in the old quarter. But however insulted they may have been they did nothing to prevent the suffering of these poor, small unfortunates.Everyone,it seemed, had thier own hardships to deal with.More Like This
It was a dismal night in the city of Arashikurai, the rain lashed down upon the orphanage,it's leaking roof barely able to contain the deluge. The children shivered in the cold darkness of their dormitory, although they were constantly reminded that they were lucky to have this place to live and their meals provided, these children felt cursed.Cursed never to feel truly alive,or that the future held anything but misery.
The largest dormitory was on the top floor of the building and housed boys between the ages of six, seven and eight.None of these c

Then, with an ear shattering crash the windows imploded in a million deadly splintering shards of glass! This was not due to the storm, this was an invasion!
At first the children thought they must be dreaming, after all how could someone jump through a window on the top floor? But the chill of the night and the rain penetrating the room told them that this was no dream,it was all too real.
All at once a flash of lightening tore across the sky, illuminating the shadowy room. The children screamed in unison at the abomination that had ripped apart their sanctuary. In their wildest dreams they could never have imagined such a horror as the vicious beast that stood b

The creature uttered a gutteral moan,it was so hungry and there were so many small and tender bodies to pick from it was spoiled for choice. It advanced on them, licking it's ghastly teeth with an engorged tongue,as they whimpered and hid their faces in their pillows.
There was one boy, however, who had left his bed.He walked toward the monster calmly, his face drained of all emotion as if un

He felt as if his body was burning in a white hot fire, it was unbelieveably agonising, he screamed as bolt of blue lightning erupted from inside of him striking the creature a terrible blow!
The other children didn't know what to be more frightened of; the monster, or their small but powerful friend. A frightful transformation had taken place, the boy's appearance had been altered by the arcane forces boiling within him. His once blue eyes were now deep blood red, his complexion had lost all colour and his blonde had turned snowy white and was stuck out on end, all the while bolts of energy crackled all around him!
Demon Hunter Vex 5The boy gazed dispassionately at the twisted corpse, his pain and agony had ceased, and he had stopped glowing. However,he had not returned to his origional appearence, and in fact never would......More Like This
Demon Hunter Vex 6Finally the priest in charge of the orphanage managed to get the door open. The key turned smoothly, and the Father and two elderly nuns fell through the doorway. They expected to find the children dead or mutilated, they expected to see a knife weilding madman or a psycho on the rampage, they never expected the unbelieveable sight that greeted their eyes.More Like This
The children were all huddled together in one corner of the room, some whimpering, but most too afraid to cry.Their saviour stood over his kill, absent mindedly prodding at it with his small, bare toes to see if it was really dead.A rottenstinking vapor rose from the monster's corpse making everyone in the room feel sick, exept the boy,he appeared immune to it's effects.
"You,boy!!"Father Simmonetti shouted, finally finding his voice. He didn't recognise the child, but he knew a demon when he saw one."What happened here?"
