It is known that human kind evolved in the Great Rift Valley of Africa around 1.2 million years ago. It is not known, however, when, how or where humanity's biggest adversary, the Lycanthropes, evolved.
There are many theories, none of which make much sense to the professional scientist or anthropologist, but what we do know is that the first major human encounters with Lycans happened in Lebanon around 160,000BC. Ancient cave paintings depicting upright wolves and dog like beasts have been found outside of Beirut, as well as burial pits filled with oddly damaged human skeletons. The encounters in Lebanon didn't stop human expansion northward into Turkey and the Caucasian Mountains, and there is evidence that suggests occasional skirmishes took place in the more forested, rugged areas of these regions.
