As the child, barely twelve years old, walked down the crowded halls of his small school, he pushed them to the back of his mind. The mockery grew steadily worse as he continued on, and his head remained bowed, as if to not catch attentionthough at nearly five foot six, he towered over his peers, and he stood out like a weed amongst flowers.
Gigantor, Toothpick, Long-legs, Einstein, Brain-less, Once-nerd and the most common and clichéfreak. Or geek, sometimes. They liked to play around with it. But the boy ignored the jeers and comments, and kept his small hands tightened on the straps of his backpack.
Soon, they would see. Soon, very, very soon, they would learn to appreciate his genius. It may not be today, it not be tomorrow, or even next week, but soon. Fate and destiny couldn't be so cruel to him.

The Once-ler didn't know what to do. He had never been in a situation like this before. He is currently in the kitchen, racking his brain for a solution. His mother, when she actually cared about him, told him tea could solve any problem. He supposed tea could solve this problem too. He wasn't quite sure how, but it was worth a try.
He made some tea and took it up to Teds room.
"Ted, can I come in?" He asked through the door.
"Yeah, come in." Came Teds muffled reply.
The Once-ler opened the door and saw Ted sitting against the head board of his bed, with his knees pulled to his chest.
"I made you some tea." The Once-ler said, handing the cup to Ted.
Ted thanked him and took the cup. He drank some of it and then set the cup on the night stand. They sat there in silence until the Once-ler decided to just get it over with.
"We need to talk about earlier." He said not looking at Ted.
"No, no we don't. I kissed you and that's it. I'm just stupid, and I don't even knw why

Ted and The Once-ler have been watching t.v for the past half hour, and the Once-ler is bored out of his mind. He never did enjoy t.v. He could never understand why Ted would watch it so much, but he wanted to spend time with Ted, so he just stared at the t.v and pretended to watch it.
"Ted, i'm bored." The Once-ler said after a few more minutes.
"What do you want to do?" Ted asked looking at the Once-ler.
"I don't know, i'm just bored of watching t.v." The Once-ler said.
Ted glanced at the clock, it's 5 o'clock right now.
"We could go to the store." Ted said with a shrug.
"Sure why not." The Once-ler said standing up from the couch.
Ted got up and went into the kitchen. He grabbed a list he had made earlier, and his car keys.
"Alright Oncie, let's go." He said leading the way out of the house and to the car.
