[IMPORTANT] DeviantART 2.0VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: A SITE IS LIVE UNDER A HIDDEN URL. This is essentially the first step for this project. It is the 'bare bones' of what I have in mind, with things like user registration, profile page, image upload, etc. I will not be releasing it yet, however stay tuned since I will be giving out the URL publicly as a 'sampler' of what might be to come if people are on-board with this idea. The next step is brainstorming with me hand-picked team (you know who you are, thanks so much for helping <3) in terms of features, design, etc. If you'd like to join, just leave a comment or shoot me a note and I'll get back to you. After that it's time to contact developers and get a quote on the site, and if we all decide that this is indeed something to go forward with, we'll start an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for the cost to build the site more. It all really depends on whether or not we can get the money necessary for it, really. But it is exciting, no?More Like This

and more discussion about lack of communication.
there was some discussion in the comments about how DA could possibly be broke, with getting $10million in 2013 to keep it the top art website. but after a discussion with a website dev, it's entirely possible for a website to cost millions of collars to host. Similar websites like tumblr and imgur have received 4x and even 100x money in funding.
(but there's also this if you want to read it too.)
