Old Faithful is the most famous geyser in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The geyser is so called because its intervals of eruption are more regular than those of other geysers. However, its eruptions have become more irregular as time goes on. Less faithful than old these days, Old Faithful erupts 65 minutes after an eruption lasting two and a half minutes and 91 minutes after longer eruptions.

I hadn't originally intended to visit Old Faithful that evening. Unable to make my planned hike to Cascade Lake before sunset, I drove around the park with my traveling companions almost aimlessly. Fortunately, our decision to visit Old Faithful was a good one: we arrived moments before the day's last eruption.

In post processing, I blended four exposures together; three for the background, then another of the eruption overlaid on them.

Shot taken on June 28th 2012, after moonset, from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3,538 m), Italy.
Yes, a remote location indeed.

The infinite is my favorite subject, since I can't go into deep space, I am constantly searching it here, on Earth...

The point of view of landscape photography is often from the plain toward an higher subject (like a mountain), this happens most frequently for obvious practical issues.
That's why I've always dreamed of pictures taken from most rarest view points.

This is definitely among my favourite night shots I've taken so far, just for one simple reason: the encounter of several natural spectacles!
Here we have the Milky Way cutting the night sky in direction south, so it is perfectly aligned with the distant pyramidal summit of Monviso (3.841 m).
This alignment, Milky Way -> Monviso, occurs at the beginning of every summer night, then gradually the Earth moves eastward, and the starry sky obviously to the west.
However, the particularity of this wonderful night was the presence of an infinite bank of clouds, approximately 800 meters below the summit where I was spending the night... the lights of the valley below turned this mass in motion in a sort of "primordial ocean".

As usual in night photography, the camera was able to capture far more details than I could see with my eyes, anyway this has been one of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen :-)

Testing if you can upload GIF's to DA...................... and apparently you can.

Remembered that I had this lying around.  This is all the frames of the plane crossing the moon just as it was about to occult Jupiter which led to my Astronomy Picture Of the Day (APOD) winning image "Fly Me To The Moons" back in 2013  apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130225.ht…

If you are interested you can watch a youtube video by Adobe's Russel Preston Brown on how this was created: youtu.be/fQzp-fEeqY0

That figure on the right side is my brother furiously searching the beach for his lenscap :D
Luckily we did find it and he also managed to get a couple of shot of this amazingly strong aurora flare which lasted no more than 10 minutes from start to finish.

Captured in Steinsvik, Nordreisa, Troms, Northern Norway.

184 minutes of Jupiter rotation. Telescope: SW Maksutov-Cassegrain 180/2700 mm, camera: PGR Chameleon mono + Baader red 610 nm filter. 92 frames, 2-minute intervals, 1200 raw frames per stack. Stacked in AviStack 2, processed in Registax 6, aligned in GIMP.

From right to left: Ganymede and its shadow, Io and its shadow. The Great Read Spot appears as a bright feature (due to use of a red filter) in the South Equatorial Belt.

Milky Way rising.  Taken the same night and location as my previous upload "Green Energy".
16 image panorama (2 rows of 8), Canon 5DMK II, 50mm, F/2.8, ISO 3200, 10 second exposures.
Not 100% happy with this one.  I will probably redo it one day.

Hey everybody!

The character I've drawn here is Jack Frost who is my personal favorite character from DreamWorks Animation's "Rise of the Guardians". An exceptional movie to say the least, I've been meaning to draw Jack since I first saw the film. And seeing as I've been on a role, I decided to finally crack down and make a fan art piece devoted to his awesomeness. So I hope you enjoy viewing and please remember: I do not own any rights to Jack Frost, the Rise of the Guardians movie, or DreamWorks Animation. All rights are exclusively reserved to their respective owner(s).

Tools I used to produce this piece:
1.) Adobe Photoshop Elements Nine
2.) Wacom Tablet

Credit to the references I used:
1.) sav-cdn.com/sites/default/file…
2.) www.wallpaperscraze.com/image/…
3.) doblelol.com/thumbs/selected-r…

The image resolution of my master copy is 3500 pixels by 3500 pixels. I resized the artwork to be significantly smaller for the viewing expediency of mobile devices.

I honestly appreciate everyone who has come to view my artwork here and, if you can spare the time, I humbly recommend that you check out my gallery if you haven't already. You most certainly won't be disappointed. Have a great day!

I got some exremely nice emails over the years explaining how I work and that it's mostly just a filter. Yes, the Elf filter! Man, I love that filter. The plug-in is cheap and does all the work. I mean, who wants to spend 40 hours on an image if you can use a filter. Pfff.

.... I hope nobody actually checked if the plug-in does exist.

Honestly.... I hate lamenting but lets face it: Everybody who does NOT paint believes in the Magic Elf. Even my mum. She can't help it. She does know how to write an email (which I'm thankful for... we even managed the mysterious SMS thing lately) but not how long it takes to make "that little image". It's okay, she's my mum. For the rest: No, it's not okay.
A lot of people frustrate the hell out of artists because it always looks so easy and bam, done. You know... it's not. Sometimes you make every stroke 3-10 times just to get it perfect.
Every art you see is a part of the lifespan artists decided to share with you and just because you don't understand the progress don't play down the effort people put in.

For the artists:
Try to ignore these people. You know better. And also:
trenchmaker.deviantart.com/jou…

PS. Man, photoshopping that filter window in took the ten minutes the elf needs. Awesome font is myriad pro btw if anybody is interested.
The "Photoshop Magic Elf" is a running gag in our studio. After 5 years ranting about the Magic Elf (and people how believe in him) I finally had to bring this mythical being to life.

Anne :sun: .... who has a hubby now :D

...to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.
