Chapter 16More Like This
A dark figure emerged from the forest. It was large, menacing. I immediately stopped my singing and shot into an upright position, tensing my muscles bracing for whatever was coming curling up into an upright ball. Hugging my knees to my chest, I curled my tail over to my left side and leaned on my arms so that if I had to I could push myself into the surrounding water.
The figure came out of the darkness of the trees and into the light… a dragon. An actual, real life dragon! Beautiful bronze and gold scales, large horns and claws, gigantic wings, and those eyes… those lovely pools of copper and amber… you were the most magnificent thing I had ever seen. But I was frightened. I don’t know why but I was frightened of you the first time we met…
“I heard you singing and I came to listen.” The dragon gave me a slight bow as he came over to the edge of the water, “You have such a lovely voice.” He said wit

Beyond LoveYou say 'beautiful' like a mistake -More Like This
like it slipped out unwarranted
from those dark parts of your mind
that you don't want me to go to,
you say it like that.
You caress like it's worship -
like if you pressed too hard
or took too much, you'd pay the price
and I love those urgent times when
you're willing to pay it.
You teach me love like I'll die without it -
like if you don't defrost me
and my frozen image of myself,
then I might stop breathing
and extinguish beneath my own icy damnation.
You kiss me like you have to -
like we're sharing an oxygen tank
in a toxic, broken-down universe
and you are trying not to breathe
to save me.
You kiss me like that.
You love me, like that -
how am I supposed to resist
a man who loves me beyond his own sense
and senses - beyond love ?
HumanityHumans are cruel.More Like This
Humans are killers.
Before guns it was knives
Before that it was stones
Invasions, burning homes,
Stealing lives and loves
Releasing crows and
Humans are good.
Humans are kind.
They live, love and laugh
They have the gift of hope
Helping them all to cope
Through evil human things
Sowing seeds and
Sewing angel wings.
Humans are strange.
Humans are incomplete.
Punches to kisses to games
Anger to love to insanity
Tragedy to crystal clarity
Whirlwinds of empty whims
Empty prayers and
Humans are living.
Humans are dying.
Ashes to ashes, soul to Hell
Or perhaps to Heaven
No human can really tell
If even either is real.
