McCall's Patterns + Yaya Han = Cosplay patterns!Today is an incredibly exciting day!!!More Like This
I feel incredibly lucky that on my birthday, I can finally reveal a long-awaited dream come true with all of you.
McCall's Patterns reached out to me last year to see if I would like to design some patterns for them. (Still reeling over this sentence, btw.) I had a meeting and lovely tour of their offices, and then got to work. My ideas were overflowing, but I knew exactly which patterns I wanted to design first...
We're proud to present "Yaya Han's Ultimate Bodysuit Pattern" as the first finished collaboration between McCall's Patterns and me.
It's a pattern we are sorely missing in the cosplay world - I know from having to alter and draft my own bodysuit patterns for many years. This patterns will make it easy for cosplayers (and everyone else) to tailor a bodysuit that will fit them like a glove, and use it as a base for thousands of costume ide

I don't know why but DeviantArt put my Nemesis cosplay on their MAIN PAGE. ''WHAT'S HOT'' ERM. I'm crying. How come my picture could be on the MAIN PAGE OF DEVIANTART ?!
THIS PIC BTW
I know my profil says I'm here since 3 years, but I had maaany other accounts and I'm actually here since I'm 12 years old. (I'm 20.. :'D) I remember myself, young, thinking about seeing one of my deviation featuring on the main page of DA. And now it is. I achieved a small little kid dream that I thought it would never happen ^^'
And all these comments about my Nemesis are all appreciated, even if it's more like a critic, I'll take everything you say in consideration so I can make this costume better :'D That's weird 'cause today I told myself that I would never lay a finger on that costume again even if it's not 100% finished (small details missing, and the helmet is totally not done) but you guys motivated me. Will totally mak

I was supposed to post my Elsa cosplay, but sadly i had problems with a jealous and egocentric girl, who was claiming to be my friend and was doing the competition in my back.I decided to ban her of my life cuz she wanted to call the police agaisnt me when she started the conversation FIRST.Two days later, she was looking for pity to my boyfriend and he flushed her too.I say that because she has an account her on DA,but i won't tell.
My Cataquack was still a huge hit in convention recently,i didn't expected that honestly.
That's all for now.
(Spoiler: WE DID IT!!!!!) WCS Canada ResultsI am very overjoyed, proud, and simultaneously humbled to let those of you who were not at Otakuthon 2014's Masqarade Award Ceremony know that Miss Messy Mia and I (as team Detailed Mess) won Canada’s World Cosplay Summit's preliminaries and will be representing Canada in 2015. I also had the wonderful opportunity to judge the regular OtakuthonMasquerade Saturday night (before I found out the WCS results) and all I could think the entire time was HOW AMAZING Cosplay is in Canada, and how it would be the GREATEST honour to get to represent this country’s amazing talent. We will work hard to do you all proud on the world stage.More Like This
I also want to congratulate ALL the other contestants- it took MAD GUTS to prepare costumes and get on

A Celebration of Cosplay!I fell into the hobby of cosplaying about three years ago, almost by accident. I've always been a bit of a closest-geek and I decided to give cosplaying a one-time go. But then I fell in love .More Like This
This hobby of mine has opened up so many unexpected doors. When I began cosplaying, I knew nothing about make-up, hair or wig styling, sewing, working with tools, or even what craft foam was! I had never felt what it was like to create something - pouring your heart, sweat, and sometimes even blood (pin pricks hurt) into it - and the pride you feel for accomplishing something. Cosplay has allowed me to become more comfortable with who I am, and met so many wonderful people who are now my friends through this hobby.
One of my goals as a cosplayer is to make the conscience choice to always enjoy this hobby; to cosplay for myself, and not for fame or attention. I want to be very transparent and share what I have learned with others, and encourage them too! Sometimes, becau

So i didn't end up going friday due to traffic/laziness/cosplay touch ups. I went early enough saturday to sign up for the masquerade. I got to visit/chat with some of my friends which is always nice! Me and my boyfriend did our usual shopping spree and checking out the con before being locked away in the green room (and i forgot my 2ds at home. It was a long wait in there T_T)
So this time for my entry i actually had a skit. I always just wing it as a walk on with w/e music suits my mood/costume but i had a plan this time and was excited to pull it off! It was my first time editing audio for it and i did one quick practice run at home. I was very pleased with how everything turned out. The crowd seemed to love it! Here is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibhB59arifo
After the masquerade that was it for me. I wanted to do a mini shoot with my boyfriend to have some good pics to post but alas after that dancing around on stage

So...You Want To Be A (cosplay) Photographer?Ladies and Gentlemen, due to an overwhelming response of "Yes" on one of my latest polls (I think it was something like 35-3 in favor), I'm going to write this journal about my experiences when it comes to photography, and, in all honesty, a majority of it will be aimed at cosplay photography given that that is what I have done the most of since I decided to get a bit more serious about photography. I also feel like it is very important to say that I'm not at all, in any way, saying that this is the "right" way of doing things. What I write about in this journal, and what I say are my own opinions, formed from 4 years and multiple conventions/outside shoots worth of experience. You all are more than welcome to agree or disagree with me, and I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments section, as well as ask me any questions you might have (PLEASE keep it respectful, folks).More Like This
