As Dawn sat slouched on the dark leather sofa she was oblivious of the signs of the coming storm. Her leaf green eyes were fixed on the constantly moving images of the television. Her left thumb stroked her faintly scarred wrist absent-mindedly.
Hearing the front door slam made her body freeze as her eyes flickered to see her Dad staggering in. She swallowed nervously and fixated her eyes on the TV. Her Dad walked wobbly over to her.
"Where is your Mum?" He questioned.
She looked up at him and said carefully, "She went out."
"I don't know."
He grabbed her top and pulled her up suddenly.
As he spoke the stench of alcohol and cigarettes filled her nose, "Don't lie to me."
"I'm not," Dawn said shakily, "I don't know where she is,"
