just a wip, i made this guitar in max for a private project. not the final version, i want to embed it into an abstract scene. i like the model very much so i did a quick amp and set up some lightning. stay tuned for the final work :-)
maybe nice to see for some guys here that i can do more than just simple abstract renders hehe ;-)

Decided to pull something together before I leave town for a couple days. I did this earlier today and am "fairly satisfied" with how it came out. Some of the stars got a bit too blurry when the image was downsized, but overall I think it works considering the time that I had to work on it.

Be sure to full-view for better details and color! ;)

Everything in this image (minus the stars themselves) was created from scratch in Photoshop using a Muddy Pack from =resurgere. I had a pre-existing starfield I had made but it was just white dots before the mud came along. :p

Be sure to go check =resurgere out as they have some incredible resources over there!

Enjoy!

Here it is, I'm done now. Kthxbye.

Yeah alright I'll explain stuff.

For anyone who's been paying attention to my journals they'll have realised that the concept is all about evolution. However lets not go all Darwin here as overtly fascinating as apes are. Now my initial idea was to have a ceremony of opposites, which has essentially been pulled off. Contrasting scenes of exhuberant paradise and paralysing doom, thus the image holds true to the concept aesthetically. But to a more fulfilling ideal, on the one side you have a human, gazing towards the light, bathing in its majesty and quite possibly having a whale of a time, on the other hand we have the skeleton, a dead human facing away from the light, hiding in the shadow of the railings. Thus the image echoes the choices sentiment of the included typography.

There's a lot more to it than that as well, but where's the fun if the artist gives you all the answers? Jump into this one and hopefully enjoy it. It'd make me happy if you did. And no, I wouldn't change it for the world, else I wouldn't have submitted it.

Technically, the image is a few steps forward again. The original working resolution proved to be too large for my computer to handle (Especially with regards to swap files, damned photoshop). It is composed of a composite of three terragen renders placed side by side (but those renders were stitches of the same render except made larger via stitching different views... that's a lot of renders and a lot of stitching). You're staring at about 20 renders total, with a total render time of between 30 and 40 hours. That's a lot of sitting around and doing nothing for me. Win. But the key point was that the initial terrain files were made as such so that the renders would fit together perfectly with as little photoshop interference as possible, including height maps so the half-height atmospheres wouldn't fight each other, and surface maps so either side could blend. To put it simply, it's a pain in the ass to do properly, but it was worthwhile. If you would like to see the image without photoshop work, check [link] . From then on, post render was all achieved in photoshop with numerous photo-references garnered from [link] - which has once again proved to been an invaluable resource (I SUCK with anatomy, so with drawing the skeleton it was a superb website to check back to). In total, the image has taken about a month to accomplish, but I'm proud.

On a final note, there's a snail in the image somewhere. Think of it as a "where's wally/waldo" game, go find him, but don't tell others where he is, that's cheating.

This image comes as is if you're just wishing to delve in and take a look, however if you click the download button, you can use the larger (and I'm afraid, lower quality) image as a wallpaper. If you are in need of a larger size, then you're going to have to note me, since I'm very wary of releasing large resolution images to the public for my own arts protection.

Go forth and love it!

Critique Discouraged

There's a number of reasons why you might select this option. Perhaps you consider the submission to be complete and will not be making further changes on it. Perhaps you feel very sensitive about the submission and would rather not have it dissected by user comments. Whatever reasons, selecting this option indicates to the deviantART audience that you would prefer not to receive critique-heavy comments for this deviation.

Something I painted with the low amount of free-time I have left for personal art :p
Experimenting with lasso selections and such..really nice tool. Used some random night-city photo to help out with the lights in the structures.

Might do some more images with the same concept since it was pretty fun!

Cheers

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.

Time.

Prints available upon request.

A collaboration with ~dekad

He made the render, sent it to me and I did the atmosphere and brushing, I sent it back to him and he did some brushing details around the focus, I took it from there and made more brushing adjustments and edited the colors up a bit and finished it off with a typo. Check his version out too, it's pretty much the same, just some minor color adjustments.

I chose this title because of the fast motion this piece has. My room mate commented on how a lot of my 3d abstract pieces seem to be really fast all the time, especially with this one so no time to waste implies fast movement.

I know, another central focus and that's annoying me right now since I'm trying to move away from that, but I can forgive that this once lol. Enjoy!

kind of sketchy vector of my brother

"Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world"

The best title in the world. :p

Here's an upcoming series of this very sick Ferrari 458 italia that I this wednesday a couple of hours, absolutely fantastic car.
I dare to say this is as furious as the Carrera GT and the exhaust sound is not very far away, absolutely STUNNING exhaust note!

Anyways, hope you digg it, I really like the water drops on the lens. On location I thought it was fail, now I think it adds to the photo as does the rain... :)

Modeled after a drawing of spiderman I did a while back: [link]

Done just for some quick, fun speed modeling - about 6 hour of modeling. He might look a bit stiff, but it was just a quickie. The buildings in the back are stock photos from sxc.hu

Modeling: 3ds Max
Rendering: Mental ray
Post: Photoshop

Obviously, Spiderman is not copyrighted by me, but the image is mine.... so please DO NOT use it.

Thanks,

Shot in crash test barrier facility, all the lights were (boiling!) hot tungsten lights. There were a total of 84 lights, including the ones lighting the front of the car which you can't see in the shot.

The results? Absolutely boiling hot conditions, the paint (which was one off and uber expensive) started to bubble and the metal on my tripod was too hot to touch with your bare hands.

The yellow cast from the hot lights had to be balanced back.
