12.2014 - Winter is comingHey guys,More Like This
the last two weeks I was visiting my parents for a little bit longer time than normally.
Usually I stay there only for one weekend and so I always have lot of family business to do and no time for photography, but this time it was more relaxed.
So I had time for exploring and nature but unfortunatly the weather was really shitty so I stayed the most time at home with mom and the cats ... and "Lord of the Ring" all parts in the extended version.
I startet urban exploring with my camera around 2009 and the first years I was always alone 'cause I didn't knew any people whe are enjoying this like I do.
Of course I know its dangerous alone and bla bla...
Some day I met my two explore-Homies. At this time s

What is a forest?
In the simplest terms, forests are areas of land covered with trees and undergrowth. However, while it is true that forest landscapes are dominated by trees, in reality these ecosystems are far more complex than they may first appear, supporting a whole host of different species and playing an important part in human livelihoods.

UrbexUrban Explorers are likely to find absolutely anything when they venture into abandoned places. Read about what this photographer found when he ventured into an abandoned Sugar Mill... It's also nice to read about how places have been rescued from becoming abandoned and lost to history, like this New York lighthouse which people are working hard to restore and make into a B & B!More Like This
Hotels can be fairly daunting at the best of times, especially some of those old ones and at night. But I think that these urban exploration captures of abandoned hotels and hotel rooms are actually quite beautiful in their own strange way...

What Ruins A Painting?
(or makes it better)
We all had those kind of paintings at some point, looking at which we felt something is not right – something is not right – But could not find it. What went wrong? We have put every finest details and all our patience in it. Then?
Art has its own science. Science that makes a successful art – something that comes out exactly you thought of and leaves the same impact on your audience. That science is known as composition in art and music. Where your eyes will go at first, how you will draw attention, how much attention you will draw – these are not luck, but pure science. A well thought designed piece is always successful. So mastering the brushes are not enough, we have to learn about the basics that make a successful art!
Hence, today, we will talk about the 'bad' elements which are solemnly responsible for rui

Continuation of my journal post "5 reasons why we fail to get things done"
Often we try to be as productive as possible - so many things to do, so many artworks to make. But then comes the procrastination, indecisiveness, lazyness and other excuses that come in our way. How to deal with them, how to accomplish all we ever wanted..? Here are my 5 tips for you that I have been doing for a while and I hope that It'll help you too.
1. 3 tasks for a day.
In the morning or in the previous evening write down 3 main things you want/need to do in a day. Be realistic, but strive for the things that will help you develop the skill, move you closer to bigger goals. Check them, change them depending on each day and cross them over when you have made them happen. You will k

Art and expectationsDear, deviantart fellow artistsMore Like This
There are times when having way too low or way too high expectations can lead to bad results and have a negative impact on things that we do and how we feel.. but how to deal with this problem? How to achieve the perfect balance that would help us in our creative journey? Here are my thoughts about the topic, that I hope might be helpful for you.
Too low expectations
When you think that you're not good enough, that you lack the skill, talent that other artists have, being afraid of failing and overthinking all the time. But all those things do only harm - stopping you from actually doing the work, even though you may think that you are not able to do that, it doesn't mean that it's true. You'll never know if you won't try.
It's so easy to find all those excuses, but it takes a lot of persistence to not let doubts and low self-esteem stand in our way. We all are humble and we all have flaws.

What to you defines the start of Autumn? Is it the weather, temperature, smell, trees, animals, food? For me this year it started with the sudden drop in temperature and the wind picking up. Then the skies started to darken and the first leaves fell. The biggest change for me this year though now that i am deeply into baking and food photography is the end of the summer baking. No longer are with summer berries for cool and refreshing desserts, instead is the turn of the warm and hearty.
There is an interesting article on Autumn on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autumn definitely worth checking out if you are an Autumn lover.

Hello dear watchers, followers and everyone who is passing by! Now that it's coming, I don't want to hide that I'm really fanatic about Eurovision song contest. Though it only reaches this continent, I think it's awesome though to browse through the entries, because it's never enough of hearing a good tone paired with meaningful lyrics. I went through the watchlist and I took to 3 songs really much, not only they have a good tone, but they are meaningful as well, and I'd like to make a song-inspired feature about each of them.
The first is our (Hungary's) entry, Running, sang by András Kállay-Saunders. Don't call me obsessed, I do not promote this song because it's ours, but because at least it has a meaning. It's about a really serious topic - child abuse awareness - and

I love spring because everything comes back to life and the world is filled with all the brilliant colors of the rainbow. The air seems so fresh and life just seems to be renewed. The baby animals are so cute and the flowers all seem to smile. The fresh green grass feels like a soft carpet on my feet and the birds come back to sing so sweet. I would like to know if anyone else loves Spring as much as I do.More Like This

it's simple but I can watch it for long hours.

Simple but complicated at the same.

Where did you learn?
I've taught myself. My Secondary (High) School art teacher told me 'cartoon are not art' and so I had no interest in perusing 'art' classes any further. At about 13 I began to draw every day, less studying, more drawing what came to mind, creating characters and worlds and getting my thoughts and feeling onto paper.
I joined deviantART at 15, and the feedback and critique I've gained through sharing my art online has helped a lot in my improvement. I wasn't born with any 'gift', unless you count functioning hands, I learned through practice. My early drawings are just as bad as everyone elses (I keep them as proof) I a

Journal updated, with my scanning technique=======More Like This
I've got so many questions about how I scan my traditional artworks, I also wanted to try out my deviantart Sta.sh storage, so I've uploaded some scanned files and put them on this journal.
Here's my method.
: I use HP G4050 scanner
: My current working OS is Windows 7, but I always use Windows XP to scan my artworks
: I always put 2 bluish-tint transparent films under my pictures when scanning. [You can buy transparent film at stationery stores.]
: Then adjust colors with photoshop, I always set contrast to [+12] or [+14] and I always use legacy contrast.
: I also adjust sharpness sometimes.
[filter>sharpen>unsharp mask> and adjust radius to : +1 pixels.
: Remove all eraser dust using clone stamp tool and it's done.
Someone might wonder why don't I use windows 7 for scanning, why do I have to put 2 transparent films underneath, and why they have to be bluish tint, I have uploaded some sample images for you to compare.

100 POINT/$1 GIVEAWAY BULLSHIT!! LOOK INSIDE!!Okay, guys... I don't know if it's just me that has noticed this god-awful trend here on dA, but what's up with the 100-point giveaways on the front page of popular journals lately?More Like This
They all go something like this:
- Add me to your watch list to be aware of future giveaways;
- Add this journal to your list
- Write a journal about this giveaway (Optional).
And the best part? They all average for 200 comments at the end of their life span.
So, what's wrong with this, you may ask? Well. We are talking about TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE BEGGING FOR ONE FUCKING DIGITAL DOLLAR NOT REDEEMABLE OUTSIDE OF DEVIANTART. ONE. FUCKING. DOLLAR.
Did I say that loud enough? One dollar. That's what 100 points are roughly worth.
And what do those people who hold these giveaways get for one dollar?
Let me show you by quoting rule nr. 1:
- Add me to your watch list to be aware of future giveaways
Really, dA? Are we going to enable that kind of shitty exploi

Hell’s Kitchen in New York City was a pretty rough place
Like many areas of the city in the 1950s and 1960s, poverty gave way to hardship which in turn created crime. The New York of that time period would be unimaginable to people only familiar with today’s Disneyland–inspired Times Square. But back then things were tough.

Monthly Photography NewsletterFor many of us, there's a reason why we are photographers and why we choose to stand behind the camera. We have much more purpose there and we lack a desire to be seen (some of us) and we have no desire to be recognised by face, but merely by name. So what do you make of the Huffington Post's recent article revealing the Photographers behind many iconic images? Check it out here. You may recognise many of the photographs that the photographers are holding, but do you recognise the faces of the artists who framed them? Probably not. You've got the likes of The Beatles, the Afghan Girl, the World Trade Centres at the moment of impact and much much more. But we never really know who is behind those captures - until now. I really like making fan-art, but my Patreon page will never have it because I find making money on someone's ideas or inventions (here: characters/worlds) morally objective :/

Now, in case you couldn't tell already, I don't like the way Ian Flynn has handled Mecha Sally. However, my addressing this has been only in the form of sporadic sections of ranting on other journals and in comments, so I thought I'd bring it all together to discuss my problems with the 'character', in a similar, yet more refined manner to my "Top 12 WORST Sonic Characters" (http://vorahk295.deviantart.com/art/My-Top-12-WORST-Sonic-Characters-Part-1-292801312?q=gallery%3Avorahk295%2F38129359&qo=7 http://vorahk295.deviantart.com/art/My-Top-12-WORST-Sonic-Characters-Part-2-292802268?q=gallery%3Avorahk295%2F38129359&qo=6). I am so used to every single time I post something in artist nudes or fetish the rude and insensitive come crawling out of the wood work.
Do you know I got a comment the other day that told me to die with my children? Some one wished death on my children because they did not like the fact that I am a fat person who allows herself to be photographed nude. I have two children a son and a daughter, ages 14 & 25. Do my children know about my modeling? Yes they do. Do my children have a problem with my posing nude or taking nude photos of others? No. they don't.
Yet every single time I do it someone and usually more than one person takes it upon them selves to point out how ugly, fat, or old I am. And then proceeds to tell me how not to be these things or tell me how these things are an affront to their sensibilities. Without ever once taking into consideration my feelings, the way those words may ma
Aren't We A Community, DeviantArt?DeviantArt. Its amazing to think what this website started off as, to what it is now. With years under its belt and surely much more to go, its no surprise how popular DA is, and how well known it is. Whether hated or loved, admired, respected, or merely looked at through passing, DA has acquired artists from all corners of the world together in one place to share pictures, stories, and ideas.More Like This
So, with all thats positive about DeviantArt, why is there so much negativity all the time? How is it, that I find so many people arguing about pointless things, page to page? With all the art thieves, copyright issues, drama, broken feelings, and shattered hopes, why is it that everyone is so drawn to DA in the first place?
Arent we a community, DeviantArt?

She was born with a hole in her heart,

Enticed by the glinting of his scythe,

She made a pinky promise with him,

She often asked where he would go,

and every love she'd ever fallen for,
into the darkness that he crawled from.
All he'd say,
was that she'd find them again someday,
and that he would take her to them, personally.

Notes on Character Design
I received the question pictured below at my tumblr blog. In case it's useful to anyone here, I decided to go ahead and use this otherwise dormant journal to share the article I put together in response.
Character design and drawing are tome-sized topics and even if I had all the answers (I don't - I have a lot to learn), I'm not sure I could communicate them effectively. Here are some thoughts an ideas that might help, though.
First, some general things...
Let some of that anxiety go. This isn't a hard science. There's no wrong way,
DDs: An IntroductionOne of the best things about being a writer on deviantART is the opportunity to be featured in a Daily Deviation (DD). While most literature communities can only offer you an audience of other writers, deviantART can expose your work to an incredible range of artists - and even non-artists (and other assorted muggles). A DD is a golden ticket to the kind of exposure which is so hard for a struggling wordsmith to find.More Like This
And yet, the systems behind DDs seem to be a mystery to a large part of the deviantART community. Our recent poll suggests that almost half of our voters don't understand what DDs are or how they work.
WritersInk is stepping in to help. Over the next few weeks, we'll be talking in more detail about some of the different aspects of DDs. We'll explain how suggestions are processed, how to suggest a piece, and what to look for when making a suggestion. We'll also pay a visit to Daily Literature Deviat

Dried Orchids: (Spaghetti Western) by Canis44
Vengeance, black powder, tyranny. This is the west, a cruel and merciless world.
A wrenching story told in a range of poetic forms, to be appreciated for both its content and its construction.
Daedalus Falls (The Fleet Will Remember) by DodgingTheBeat
Daedalus is falling, and hope of victory against humanity's sprawling decadence is falling with her.
In this short story that's aching to be part of something bigger, DodgingTheBeat delivers a scene that you watch as much as read. If you're a fan of sci-fi movies give this a read and start casting the characters.

Fool by ResidentNobody
From an America with no jobs and no alcohol comes a story about a man who runs away from the circus, only to crawl back six months later.
ResidentNobody tells a story that pits the desire for change against the crushing inevitability of what is and will always be. For a touch of melancholy fiction, Fool is our favourite of the week.

frozen/headlights by amy-derfer
Love can be crippling, surprising, intoxicating; love can be frostbite, lightning strikes, kryptonite.
We've all been trapped in the headlights of love, unable to command our thoughts or speech. Here's a beautifully creative poem about something we can all relate to.

A Kappa Named Cucumber by JiaLi
A little boy goes down to the river to play, laden with a bucket, an umbrella (for it's been raining all week), and some cucumber sandwiches. What he finds beneath the water will stay with him forever...
An absolutely charming children's story. It's well-written, easy to read, and hard not to fall in love with. After all, Haven't we all wanted a Kappa when we were growing up?
"The best part I think, is when you're a writer and in the middle of a huge writer's block, but you can sit down and spend DAYS, WEEKS, MONT

This week we have some deeply meaningful pieces for you to muse over. From the cynical look into the media and the truth we're being fed, to the undying, chained devotion of a wife still adamant to fulfil her duty to her husband. Eavesdrop on a conversation between a couple, one of whom has never been able to express unspoken love for the other, and finally take a trip into helplessness and watch as the sky falls and no one listens.
The Write-off Votes are in and we've got an interesting prompt-based contest to let you all know about as well.
