The Reaping hadn’t gone well. Not at all.
Not only were you chosen as tribute for District 8 at only the young age of 13, you knew you had no chances of winning, or even surviving past the first day. You knew nothing of anything but textiles and working in the mill. You would surely die before you even had a chance to learn anything.
Training had been as smooth as could be expected. Tributes had thrown harsh words to rival Districts, talents were shown, weaker tributes got hurt. The boy from District 12 had been noticed by the Careers as a possible ally, and you feared that his crushing strength would be your end.
