I haven't posted a journal entry in ages- not a personal one anyway! I've been around, just not sat down to write anything. I actually did start writing a journal on Friday night, but the fateful backspace key went back on the page and I lost the whole entry. (At which point I slammed my laptop down in a grump and started playing fat princess on the PlayStation!). I hate to say "I've been busy", because yes I have, but at the same time I do still slump on the sofa with this laptop most nights once the monkey toddler is asleep.
I went to Mexico a few weeks ago for my honeymoon, just me and the husband. We had an absolutely amazing time enjoying the heat, cocktails and local nature (iguanas and coatis). We stayed in an area known and the Rivera Maya, near a town called Akumal in an all-inclusive, which was pretty nice! The hotel was lovely, but the sight-seeing was definitely worth the 10 hour flight, especially going to Chichén Itzá (Mayan temples) and swimming in

DeviantArt is my favorite website of all where I can spend 10 to 30 hours a week. It’s the place where I can meet other artists and where I can get help, find tutorials and resources and feature other people. This is by far the easiest site to use lately. You don’t have to answer 50 questions or create your own thumbnail to submit art. You can check your friend’s art without scrolling endlessly through pages and pages of everything; kitchen sink included.
I like good changes. They are un-boring. I am always eager to see the next step. You did great things in the past, and others not in my liking. It’s normal, we cannot please everyone. I still miss the page footer. But every time you announce a change, I’m anxious about losing an important tool for my daily activities here. I’m afraid DeviantArt will become like other websites I lost interest in. I’m worried to lose something I love so much.
Should you become a professional photographer?Art in the ProfessionsMore Like This
This week at projecteducate you'll be seeing a two part article by silber-englein about what is necessary for you to strive as a freelance portrait photographer. This article will be focusing on the internal decision you must make before you even get into the details of how to be a successful professional photographer. Because let's face it, you should probably do some serious thinking before you make such a huge life decision. I will also be covering freelance photography, as that is what I know the most about. So here are a few things I believe you should go over in your mind before making your decision:
What is your goal in life?
This is a pretty damn confusing and serious question, right? After all, many of us have no idea what our life goal might be. As it is, we already can't figure out what career to pursue! Let alone a lifetime goal! But what I mean by this is that every individual has their own calling. Everyone has something th
Spread the loveI've been in a negative place these past couple of weeks because of the way life has been turning out in terms of health and life issues. But, I've been trying to outweigh the negative with the positive, show love and appreciation to people, give thanks to those who have helped me, and simply be grateful for all the good things in my life that make it possible for me to get through rough times. Anyways, TL;DR: this journal is just about saying a few words about the people I appreciate. At the end I'll be tagging people to do the same, because we should spread the love It's also a great way to showcase awesome deviants, and find awesome people to meet and chat with!More Like This
This guy kinda has to come first (I guess ). He talks to me everyday, checks in on me, listens to my crap, tells me his, and tries to make me feel better and whatnot. For those of you who don't know Carlos, well, you should. He's pretty damn awesome. You'll find him in #devart pretty much
Artist Showcase, Episode 17TheMaidenInBlackMore Like This
Welcome to the Artist Showcase!
This next showcase will highlight the great activity and artwork that belongs to TheMaidenInBlack (who was recently HtBlack), also known around our community as Erika. She was kind enough to chat with me about her DeviantArt experiences so that I can share them with you! Let's get started.
(notice how the tiger cheers with anticipation)
Erika is an Italian deviant who was born in Argentina. She plans on moving to the United States soon. She calls herself a silent, firm, and rational person with a passion for science, debating, hair care, and manga/anime. She's very big into reading (not too surprising since she is primarily a Literature deviant!) and enjoys writing when she can. When she is not keeping busy with a book or writing, she's teaching her dog some fun tricks. The newest of which is how to play hide and seek. Erika also wants to be clear
