Everything -- KirkSpockJim didn't turn around when he heard Spock's voice. What was the point? Whatever spark of memory that had been there regarding the... extent of their friendship had been hidden away by Sarek during Spock's reeducation. Spock didn't even remember enough to call him Jim, rather than Captain, so hope of anything more was, for lack of a better word, illogical.

And yet, even though he didn't turn around, even though he knew it was hopeless, Jim still found himself warmed by the crisp sound of the Vulcan's voice, as well as the comfort of the mental bond they shared.
"Captain," he said, a slender hand resting against the door frame. The word sent a pang of rememberance through Jim's heart; Spock spoke as if he was a total stranger, even with his katra returned to him.
"Yes, Spock?" Jim finally turned, not bothering to correct him this time.
"It is nearly time for our departure to Starfleet Headquarters," Spock reported. "I felt it wise to inform you before our time is cut too short."
