The very last bit of setting sunlight reaches the Schrammstein-Lookout-Point just a few seconds before the Saxon Switzerland disappears behind a rain curtain. The shot shows the Schrammsteine on the left, and the Falkenstein on the right.

By far the most spectacular light i`ve photographed.

I looked at the forecast and the signs were there... Extremely warm temperatures and a potential thunderstorm approaching. This could be hit or miss. I risked standing there on the mountain being soaked by nothing but rain. But there was potential...

I got ready for the long hike up to a mountainridge facing north. I wanted a clear unobstructed view towards the midnightsun. When i started the hike it was almost 30 degrees celsius and the sun was making it tiring to climb, even though it was getting late in the evening. When i was getting closer to the ridge i could feel the first raindrops on my skin. And sure...pretty soon i could hear the first sounds of thunder. Now, i was getting pumped. I almost ran up on the ridge even though its normally not recommended standing like this, totally exposed on one of the highest points in the area while lightning strikes rippes up the sky. I went into crazymode and found my compositions. Crazymode means taking chances...this time i climbed out on a slippery shelf with nothing but a lake below me...some hundred meters below me...

So there i was..soaking wet firing away exposures hoping to catch the lightningstrikes while at the same time battling the raindrops screwing up my filters. 50 exposures was made of this scene. 1 had a lightningstrike in it...

To the west the midnightsun was shining warm and bright...to the east there was a pitch black sky full of thunder and lightning. I dont expect seeing this again anytime soon. Im glad i got to see this show from the best seat in the house.

If you want to go into crazymode together with me, you have the chance.

Head on over to www.lofotentours.com to see all the tours on offer at the moment.

I recall seeing a photo of Moraine Lake in Canada in a magazine and was instantly captivated by its surreal colours and glassy reflections. The images I saw were mostly taken at midday so I thought of capturing it in a different light, literally.

I got up really early and got there in time, looking for the right spot. Clouds blocked the sunlight at first but my patience paid off when the rays managed to pierce through momentarily, barely just enough time for a few captures.

The peaceful reflections...they remain deeply etched in my mind.

For people who are wondering, no, this is not a HDR and I did not use any software processing to achieve this effect. Only filters are used in all my work and the same goes for this :w00t:

That's what you can see if you do some summer walk in my region : a huge herd of fluffy sheep grazing on our french volcanoes ( La Chaîne des Puys ).
This late june sunset was quite the perfect moment to capture them and the silhouette of volcanoes in the background, with a beautiful warm light and a nice display of clouds.

This is an image from this autumn I had not edited yet. It was a very pleasant evening spent in our french volcanoes, the autumn colors were at their best and with the sunset light and the blurry air, it created a very warm and dreamy atmosphere.

This was taken during a wonderful sunrise in early january. The golden morning light was delicious and the wave forms in the landscape were pretty interesting, as well as the wave forms in the sea of mist away.

This is one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen this year, which occured at the end of november.
It was shot at a little pond near home. During a very short moment the sun was just between the clouds and the mountain, so there was an awesome light. When this happens while the sky is almost full of great clouds with nice textures and shapes, it's just stunning !

:bulletred: If you like my photography, please considering purchasing a print Photography is how I make my living and there is no greater honor than having someone hang my art on their walls. Prints come in all shapes and sizes along with all paper finishes including canvas. If you decide to purchase any of my work, I would love to see it! Feel free to send me a snapshot of it hanging and I will feature it on my facebook page.

About the photograph- I just returned from spending 4 days up in the Colorado Rockies photographing the incredible colors and I have to say, I saw some incredible things which I managed to photograph, this being one of them. So far this is the first photo I have processed and I was so excited I had to share it right away. I love traveling down dirt country roads, looking for new places and things to photograph and when I turned the corner, this is what was staring me in the face. Aspen trees in their autumn splendor lining the shore of a pond with a reflection that was simply amazing. It looked like a painting and I was floored. I think it's safe to say "take the road less traveled" (literally) when it comes to your photography, otherwise you might miss something that you never expected!

:bulletred: If you like my photography, please considering purchasing a print, the sales will go towards repairing my camera- After having medical bills from being very sick, I don't have the cash to repair it so I am trying to drum up print sales so I may continue to do what I love; photography. Sunday night while on a photoshoot up in the mountains, my camera gave up the ghost. It would appear the shutter died completely. After having just spent nearly a full week very ill in the hospital, I don't have the money to get a new camera or even repair it (it's loooong out of warranty) They say when it rains it pours, I think I must be going through a flood. I'm quite sad by it all as photography is my relief from an otherwise completely crazy world, it offers me peace of mind which I don't find anywhere else. This year has been incredibly hard for me, from being sick where I am facing my own mortality (because being septic is fun! Not.) to finances from hospital bills to just keeping my sanity, I have always gone to my camera to find comfort. Not much I can do now though I guess. I'll be honest with you all, it's hard being on here seeing everyone's awesome photos knowing that you can't do a dang thing to enjoy the same thing. In fact, it is downright depressing. Literally. Maybe I'll find a winning lotto ticket on the street lol

About the photograph-I witnessed one of the most amazing sunrises yesterday morning that I had seen in a very long time. It's been ages since the sky was this good, sure it generally always is good in Colorado but this was one of those scenes which just exploded to where it looked like something an artist painted on canvas. It's always a gamble waking up at some ungodly hour in hopes of a stunning sunrise and generally I do ok, sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, yesterday though I hit the jackpot. I was literally just in awe as I photographed this over Lake Ladora in Denver, my mouth wide open. Amazing how fast the light & color was changing, every second it would shift color, tint & hue to something else. It actually started out very cool with pinks, blues and soft aqua marines before going into a fireball. August put on one final show and it's one I soon won't forget.

Our journey around Penwiper Island continues. The Lake of Nymphs as been left far behind and we have climbed high up into the interior. It is mid morning in early autumn, the air is like crystal and the silence near total. It is a strange place that we have come to and we talk in whispers.
[Technical notes for those interested: I sketched out the composition in Photoshop and then went into Vue to create the scene. I used a very bright light which bleached out a lot of the detail, so post rendering work mainly consisted of painting in textures and lost details.]

Week 10 of my 52 Week Project. Sorry for the delay.

The photo shows the Torres del Paine Massif in the south of Chile. On the right you see the three Torres, which gave the nationalpark its name, in the middle (with snow) is the Almirante Nieto and on the left one of the Cuernos (black at the top and grey at the bottom). It was an impressive view and unforgetable moment seeing those mountains rise up from the vast and dry plains.
