This is a very weird episode. Rocks. The episode uses a lot of dry humor, which I'm 95% sure what they were going for, and Maud's brutal honesty kind of got me to laugh frequently. Her voice reminded me, and perhaps a lot of others, of Raven from Teen Titans. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Tara Strong voiced Maud as well. However, Maud's ultra seriousness goes beyond that of Raven's. Rocks. Throughout the episode I had no idea where they were going with things. It kind of seemed either unstructured or unplanned until everything came together at the end. Rocks. And at the end everything came together in an exceptionally good and heartwarming way. Did the ending obstacle course remind anyone else of Double Dare? I mean, besides the part where Pinkie was almost crushed. By rocks. So in this episode Pinkie Pie's sister, who is pretty much Raven from Teen Titans comes to visit in a ceremo
First Impressions - Pinkie PrideDisclaimer: These are my first impressions and not my final thoughts towards the episode. This episode also requires a little bit more analysis than usual, not as much as Daring Don't or Magical Mystery Cure, but I need a few more viewings to gain my full opinion.More Like This
Yes I think that the episode was awesome, incredibly so. For the entirety of the season I've been largely complaining about how Pinkie has been flanderized, and in an episode focusing on her her characterization is damn near perfect. It's honestly kind of like an inverse of previous seasons where the show has exaggerated her character in her own episodes, but she was usually fine in group episodes. I say close for only one reason--Pinkie's very last line where she says she doesn't know who Cheese Sandwich's name was. Still I can look past that though because pretty much every other part of this episode went above and beyond.
Let's start with the obvious, Weird Al. His humor translates to the show perfectly

Well... that was odd. I never expected this show of all shows to actually manage a road trip episode, but they made it work and didn't make it contrived. There was actually a reason for them to go on a road trip, and that reason was interesting. I've always said that Pinkie and Applejack would play off of each other very well, and I stand by it, but this episode doesn't actually have them play off of each other much. It's more of Applejack playing off of her family, and the Apple Family as a whole playing off of Pinkie. And they play off of each other really well. They clearly want to either impress Pinkie, or make her feel welcome, or both, and it's amazing on how they actually come about that.
Believe it or not, the thing that stuck out to me most about this episode is that they didn't feel the need to put all of the mane six in the episode. I was worried that the wri
