Biweekly feature vol.1Hello everyone, I'm very happy to present the very first of the many
feature journal. I'll be doing this every 2 weeks so this will allow the
feature art work to get a decent amount of views.
The feature journal is where I'll be posting some art works from artist
on DA that you guys suggested that don't have many views or favorites
and that deserve more. For the feature journal I have picked suggestions
for different category to make it more diverse.
Again, thank you allfor posting suggestions in my previous journal, sadly space is limited
so I will not be able to feature all the suggestions.
For the next feature,
If you have a piece from an artist that you really like and feel like
that they need some exposure, wither its photography, Crafting,
Painting, Drawings, etc please post below. Please make sure that they are

Critiquing, do's and dont'sSo i almost always request critiques on my art, and i also get a lot of them too (thank you so much guys/galls) and i've noticed some critiquers have some misconceptions about critiques, their role, how to do it, etc.More Like This
Now i don't want to critique someone's critiuque, i rarely do that because people take it as being defensive about the art that is critiqued. So i'll just make this journal to hopefully inform/educate some of you about critiquing.
-If an artist requests critiques, and you have something to say about it then do use the critique widget to leave a critique. Don't critique in the comment's section though. I know some of you are more shy, but if you're bold enough to write a critique then put it in its proper place, that's what the widget is fore. This does not apply to artists who do not have a premium and can't requests critiques through the widget.
-Do read the artists comments on the artwork first. They might offer hints on what

There are a few pretty important things to consider before publicly announcing you're opening commissions:
1. payment method. The deviantart commission widget takes 20% of your profit, but then again more deviants have points so you're likely to get 20% more customers like that. But don't forget there are people who have paypal and don't feel like dealing with points so if you decide to open commissions through deviantart, don't let that be the ONLY payment method.
Paypal is the most common payment method used online and i strongly recommend it. Make a paypal account, connect it to a card and you're ready. But don't forget paypal has a limit of $3000 per year withdrawal. So if you're serious about drawing art for a living and you

Does talent exist?I know many people have different opinions about this. And here's what i think of it and why. I'll just answer the journal question up front, I think talent does not exist. And here's why:More Like This
Let's start with he question, what is talent? It's this magical thing that makes some people learn faster and develop faster than others in different fields. Let's take art for example, there are 2 different artists, both start at the same time to learn a concept and one learns faster than the other. But few people have stopped to ask themselves why that is? Is it talent, or is it something else?
Let me tell you a story about a guy who started an experiment to see if talent exists. He posted an add where he stated he's looking for a wife that will agree to marry him and let him test their children in this experiment. And they made 3 girls. The guy taught them all how to lay chess from a very early age, and lo and behold all of them became grandmasters in chess. This story is real, the guy is

Carciphona volume 1 sold out not long ago, and I’ve finally restocked those this week!Shipping prices lowered as promised in the past month!
I’ve been working on figuring out a new shipping company last month, and I am ready (I think LOL MAYBE) to switch over! Shipping has always been the bane of my shop because I’m in Canada. I’ve got tons of questions about it in the past year that range from confused to outraged. But it’s in my best interest to find ways to lower shipping prices, because while some people are in such disbelief that Canadian shipping can be that bad (it can) might even think that I bloat shipping prices to make more money, high shipping costs actually makes me lose business because SURPRISE, no one wants to buy overpriced things.
The new company ships through USPS which means I can lower shipping prices to USA by as much as 70%

(CLOSED) AUCTION - Sketch ''Shy Kitty''Here's the third pencil sketch auction. If you missed the previous ones, the idea here is that I'm selling original physical copies of some of the pencil sketches I did earlier this year. This time it's a sexy catgirl in bed. See below for details on the item, links to samples, and instructions on how to bid! This auction is open for roughly 6 days, ending on 25th.More Like This
BONUS FOR PARTICIPATING:
Everyone who bids on a sketch auction during December will participate in a raffle I'll hold at the end of the year. The randomly-drawn winner of the raffle will receive at least two items, which can be either original sketches/doodles or leftover prints (probably one of each!). Your bid doesn't need to win an auction in order to participate in the raffle! Bidding in each auction earns you an additional raffle ticket (but only one per auction item!). So go ahead, up that bid. Even if you don't win the auction, you might win the raffle.

(CLOSED) - AUCTION - ''Beach Pranks FTW''So, I figured it's a shame having the pencil works I did earlier this year just gathering dust (well, not literally, since they're still in the sketchbook, but I'm sure you get the idea), so I figured I'd sell off some of them. For how much? I dunno! You tell me! So, let's try an auction! I'll start off with the older ones and if this goes well, then I'll move on to the newer ones! I'll probably post some promotions and reminders about these auctions again, so bear with this campaign bombing your updates every now and then.More Like This

I've been here a long time. Well, I suppose I wasn't active for many years. I lived in Japan and Deviantart has no presence there. But then 3.5 years ago I decided to teach myself to paint, so I suddenly became active.
I think a lot of the recent Site Updates to Deviantart have really made things hard for those of us who are serious about artwork ( or maybe everyone?). Usually, it was fairly standard that when you post a new

The hardest part of any craft is getting the right tools. You've gotta learn the language of the trade, and that means getting yourself familiar with what's needed where. Culinary arts in particular can be so overwhelming. Most sugar craft books will tell you you need a long list of expensive equipment they'll use to make one type of adornment never to be used again. This can suck a lot of beginners in to spending a fortune on equipment that's not essential. And cake decorating equipment is exorbitantly expensive. I can go buy some lustre dust and a couple of cutters required for one type of flower and kiss $100 goodbye, so knowing when to spend and when not to spend can save you a lot of pain.

They can be cute, they can be intimidating. They can be colourful, or muted. They can appear fierce and strong, or swirl in delicate, graceful lines.
These muscular structures are best known as those attached jellyfish, but they're found in a massive array of invertebrates, some mammals & amphibians, and even in plants! We always associate them as having suckers, but some species come equipped with all sorts of interesting structures. Some tentacles have eyes at the end of them (snails) others have teeth (giant squid). Some can release venom (jellyfish) and others are lined with sharp swivelling hooks (colossal squid).
But where they are best known is the one place they are most often misnamed: the octopus. The 8 limbs on the octopus are actually arms, not tentacles. Tentacles are actually much longer than arms, and only have suckers on the very tips rather than scaling the whole length of them.
But tentacles jus

Writing Effective DialogueWe've all struggled through figuring out how to write dialogue that not only gets the information out there, but also helps build characters or advance the plot. There are tons of books and blogs out there on the topic, too. But just reading about it doesn't do much good if we're not ready to try it out. Give it a go and see what other people think. But let's start with the basics.More Like This
What is Effective Dialogue?
Dialogue that's written well will reveal character traits, add to the tension and suspense, helps cut down on text walls of description and of course, advances your plot. One of the most important things to keep in mind when you're writing dialogue is that in fiction, your reader doesn't want to read all the mundane things we say on a regular basis. So if it's not moving the plot or adding to your character's personality, you should think about cutting it completely.
What do I mean by reveals character traits?

Around 5 years ago, I joined deviantART as Uxiethecat. Boy was I an idiot. Then again, when you're young, you kind of do idiotic things. However, the only reason I had made a deviantART in the first place was under the persuasion of Runatone. I had originally made a YouTube account and expressed a love for drawing. She told me that if I did love drawing so much, then I could create a deviantART and post my art. That's exactly what I did, actually. The YouTube Account eventually became the name of my first deviantART. It was a deviantART I had grown to hate along with my YouTube channel. This hatred and shame started with my growing out of the sonic fandom. However, I had not taken action until then. I was originally a rather major part of the sonic fandom, on that account, then the Kingdom Hearts fandom, then the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom. When I started to create origi

Let me be the first to say that Avenier has always hosted darker themes in art and fiction, though there are some places we will not go. I do not need to list these, nor did I feel the need to explain to people that actions such as rape and murder are not being glorified here. We do not take the position that murderers and rapists are "good and likable people". Nor do we mean to entice people to think this way. We at Avenier absolutely do not support rampant victim-blaming responses in any way, nor do we encourage others to think this way. If your opinion is different from this, please do not ATTACK and INSULT those who understand the real consequences of people's responses and the offense that they elicit.

There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

Granted, there's a lot of art to be seen, and quite frankly, most of it is probably not worth the value of time. That is as it should be. We can't expect to create great work until we've flooded the world with loads of mediocrity.
It takes an awful lot of tumbling to smooth a stone.
Yet, even the images that I feel are of exceptional quality, I may give them no more than a few seconds worth of my attention. 5-10 is probably my average. 15 seconds is really pushing it. Probably all artists can relate to the overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. We see so much amazing work posted by artists everyday, but we don't see the hard years of struggle behind it. It becomes easy to question one's own abilities when we know our personal challenges all too well.
Of course, those feelings of doubt are just part of the creative process.

injury - tennis elbowi posted a poll last month about drawing injuries and the comments on that poll totally exploded! since i don't have the time to reply to each one individually, i just wanted to let you guys know that i read them and really appreciate the input. it was very comforting for me to know i'm not alone! i myself had tennis elbow last february and it has slowly improved, with what i would guess is a 95% recovery at the moment. my arm feels normal in my daily life and after short drawing sessions, but after a day of drawing, it flares up. i have to take on a new approach to drawing that requires lots of breaks, rest, stretching and a more relaxed approach, which is harder than it sounds! more about that here.More Like This
anyways, i just wanted to share those two links with you guys. they might be a comfort to anyone who is struggling with an injury,

And even though I don't really know you guys very well, I just want to let you all know that you're awesome and I hope that someday (when that day comes) we can all meet in the big Paris Opera House in the sky OR if Fate is being generous, in the West coast.

How To Show A Girl She Can Love HerselfWhen you see her cryMore Like This
you get a rag,
a gentle delicate clothe
lovingly grasp her hand
and dab its tip
to dry each tear as they come
and ask each drop
why it'd leave
such beautiful eyes.
If she wishes
to be in the sky
Tell her to go
Take the sun ransom
And replace it in the sky
So you can see her every morning
and plead for her
To return each night.
When you see her scars
gently like you might
caress the broken wing
Of a dove
and remind her
that for every hurt
that she's survived
has only made her
that much more unique
that much stronger.
Show her that she is worthy of love
That she deserves the love
she fears to give...
show her so that
one day after you're

The Ferocious BlundersnareRest, my child, drift away in bliss,More Like This
Like rose and lavender in the night's kiss.
The tempest roars and the tempest moans
But safety is right here in your home.
Go to sleep and dream sweet things
of gamblers and thieves and magic rings
of kingdoms and castles in the air
of the knight who braves the dragon's lair.
You're the hero of your own fantasy.
So go! Invite the queen for tea!
She'll say yes, but beware
of her ferocious Blundersnare.
Its teeth are bigger than your head
and it really wants you dead
It has venom for blood and blood for lunch
(They say that it once tried to eat the sun).
Swish! And it claws your stomach out
You'll have no time to scream for help.
The Blundersnare will tear you apart
It will play with your face and chew on your heart.
But what it wants it never will get
Is that thing living right inside your head.
Not your brain and not your eyes
But something sacred, calm and wise.
It wants your mind but not exactly
(it's quite hard to describe it directly)

Sometimes We ForgetCelebrate life.More Like This
There are many people in this world.
Not all have the life you do.
Life is a journey, one that takes
A lifetime to complete.
A unique path spreading forth
For all to live.
Sometimes we forget how
Truly beautiful life really is.
The sun shall rise on every day
And that day is beautiful
Because that day is
For all life is beautiful.
Even though you cannot see,
A symphony of colors,
Which blend together
And complement each other.
Sometimes we forget how
Unique each life really is.
The sun shall rise every morning
And that morning is perfect
Because that morning is
For every life is worth living.
There are always moments
Our world may shatter in
A single brief moment.
But as long as you remember:
Sometimes we forget how
Irreplaceable our lives are.
The sun rises in the east,
And so we shall rise above
Any challenge that threatens
Tyranny of DistanceThe tyranny of distanceMore Like This
The tyranny of time
They cloud those perfect memories
When love was pure and mine
Wondering was it ever true?
Or just a house of cards?
A perfect pane of colored glass
Has fallen into shards
I guess we were to scared to give
I count what we did wrong
As slowly, surely, we did twist
I see the list is long
The monsters of defensiveness
Blinded us somehow
And left us full of bitterness
And sent us straight to hell
The sadness in the falling down
The part that breaks my heart
Was that we prized our love so much
Our fears tore it apart
Good Morning"Good Morning"More Like This
I read those two words aloud
Imagining your voice
Your lips whispering
Them gently into my ear
And then I'd smile
And say "Good Morning" too
As I'd let myself remember
Just how much i loved you
But now I look down
And all I see are two measly words
Sent from your fingers
Instead of your lips.
And while I tell myself
Those two words are enough
That your love and mine
Can traverse a hundred miles
A thousand miles
And still appear just as strong
Just as pure
And I worry, I fear
That my love may not
Be enough to keep you happy
And that one day
Just the memory of you
Won't be enough
To keep my tears away.
And every time I think that
Every time I let my worries attack
I feel my heart begin to break
Because in my heart
You're becoming someone
I can't live without
Even though I already am
And while it might be
The best way to save my heart
I don't want to say "Goodbye"
So I'll just say "Good Morning"
And wait for your reply.
