Has a bit of a nostalgic feel, doesn't it? :)

A very familiar tower for some, especially after you have seen justeline's version of it. I do have a similar shot with Maria's Prisoners of the Dusk but since our watchers are more or less common I don't want to bore you with repetition of the same things with a small change of angle. Pass by Maria's picture though if you are interested on the story behind those sets of photographs.

Anyway this is my shot around fifteen minutes later when the sun had set and has stopped reflecting on the tower walls making it the perfect "Dark Tower"

Sometimes there is more to photography than just simply capturing an image....what you're after is a scene with a "mood" or a "feeling" to it. You may not even realize it at the time of the exposure, but it's about how the image makes you feel :)

So I was on the way home from work and spotted this tree with the sunset background out of the corner of my eye, and.......flipped a U-Turn and went back to get the shot, staning in the median with cars passing by, lucky not to many! ;)

When opportunity knocks, right?

I recently found this painting that I made a couple of years ago, I never posted it anywhere. I wanted draw a different looks, a doll's looks, with improbable and excessive eyes, but I never decided if I liked the result.
Now I'm seeing her looks and her red hanging eyes have become something special, the imperfect technique runs well here, I think. (:

Took a break from the endless work on my solo show to do a personal piece. I was inspired by two songs, both called "Islands," by The xx www.youtube.com/watch?v=PElhV8… and Young the Giant www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca7z8y… - equally excellent!

Painted in Adobe Photoshop, about 10-12 hours on a Wacom Cintiq. The general pose and movement of the hair were inspired by this great stock photo by ~AimeeStock. Hit Download Image on the right for a large wallpaper size.

Seem to have a thing for hair lately....:P

anyway heres another Painter 7 sketch (im really starting to love painter!) it took about an hour and the whole feather thing was just an idea that developed as i drew.

certainly not as refined as my other stuff....but as you learn how to paint etc, you become more aware of the importance of forms and colour tones over the details, something im happily learning these days:)

theres a possibility i might 'fully' finish this.....but i like it as it is....so dont hold ya breath:P

Enjoy!

-----Full view or face my wrath!!!!-----

long time no post!

im busy getting all the artwork wrapped up for this commision and thought i might post this here. its about 6 hours worth of work, the majority of which was spent on getting the skin tones just how i wanted them:)

i didnt bother over blending all the colours together because it VERY boring to do and takes away that "painted" look.

This artwork was done for a "20 steps to extreme realism" workshop done for ImagineFX issue 40.
Nothing really too surprising about the concept - the point was to push the realism as far as I could.

Done in Photoshop CS. Video making-of can be seen on the issue 40's DVD. :-)

its been a while since i submitted anything substantional....and it feels good to do so once again:) (Smile)

This image was inspired by a dream i had a week ago, the image shows the clearest thing i remember.
A bright light filled the sky and smoke swept through the city...i then had a close up of a guy, not sure if it was supposed to be me or not but i watched in the reflection of his goggles as the figures grew and disintergrated, then suddenly everything started to break apart and slowly float away in the wind.

VERY STRANGE :o (Eek)

not entirely sure what is means but ive got my own thoughts on that.

anyway i hope you like it:) (Smile)

Technically it's a rainbow French herringbone braid, and yes, my hair is real. This self portrait has been stolen so many times - including by some on DA. In at least one case it made it to the front page. Sad. Meanwhile on Flickr (where I originally posted it) it hasn't even made it to Explore. Watch, now that I've finally put in on DA myself it won't get any recognition at all :(

As a thank you to everyone who has been helpful in tracking down photo thieves and supportive of art in general, I thought I would tell you all how I created this color combination. I haven't posted those directions anywhere else. On Flickr I listed the products I used in the tags, but that's as far as I went. Soooo....

The red on my left hand side is Manic Panic Pillarbox Red. The orange next to it is a combination of the Pillarbox Red and Manic Panic Electric Banana (I would've used Manic Panic Electric Lava if I'd had it). The yellow next to that is more Electric Banana. The green is where it starts to get tricky. If I'd had them on hand I would've used Manic Panic Electric Lizard (with a little Electric Banana mixed in to make it more neon) for the green and Manic Panic Bad Boy Blue for the blue. Unfortunately I didn't have the green or the blue. But I did have Manic Panic Shocking Blue, Electric Banana and a lot of Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Conditioner. I mixed the conditioner with the Shocking Blue until I got the shade you see on my hair in this photo. The green is some of this blue/conditioner mixture with some Electric Banana mixed in. Which brings us to the lavender - Manic Panic Ultra Violet. Followed by the pink - Manic Panic Red Passion (it shows up pink on my hair) and we've come back around to Pillarbox Red.

I bleach my hair with Manic Panic 30 vol. and I usually only bleach my roots. In between dyeing I'll let the colors fade to pastels on their own so I can cover them up with new colors without having to bleach the majority of my hair.

The original self portrait that I posted on Flickr is here: [link]

If you want to know my haircare routine, I put it in the description of this photo: [link]

Also, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post this self portrait here. And I'm REALLY SUPER sorry that I'm such an impossible person to get into contact with.

**********UPDATE*********So it's been six days, front page, 547 comments, 6,005 favorites and 33,540 views later and some have asked me how I created the pattern in my hair, which made me realize I forgot to describe how I sectioned my hair before dyeing -- oops! Anyway, I parted my hair completely down the middle and put my hair in pigtails. Then I parted each pigtail the exact same way, forming four pigtails. Then I did the same thing with those four, making eight pigtails. Starting on my left hand side, I dyed the section over my ear Pillarbox Red, then dyed the section above that orange, the one above that yellow, and so on.

Thank you so much for all the favorites, views and kind comments! I was completely stunned to see myself on the front page!
