Els frares is a very accesible little cove just beside Lloret de Mar city center. An amazing spot once you go down to the rocky beach, youŽll discover those beautiful monolith popping out of the sea like sentinels guarding the Costa Brava.

A quick tip for making stars with Photoshop CS

Choose a colour - a lighter shade of your main sky colour. Get a hard round brush 5 pixels.
SETTINGS:
Opacity 100, flow 100
Brush tip shape settings: Hardness 100, Spacing 1000
Shape Dynamics settings: Size Jitter 100 - pen pressure
Scattering settings: Both Axes 775 - pen pressure, Count 1
Other dynamics settings: Opacity Jitter 45, Flow jitter 50, control for both- pen pressure
Save this brush for future use.
Create a new layer and draw your stars, apply a Gaussian blur 0.6.
If your sky is cloudy (like mine here) or you like to give depth to your starry sky:
Get the eraser tool - hard round brush 9 pixels, opacity 72% . Place the brush over the star you want to look faded and do just one click. Repeat this to the next star and so on. You can use a second 'click' too on few of them :-)

I'm sure there are more other ways, but I came up with this while I was trying to make the stars on the above image and thought to share it with you :-)

Enjoy :)

Here is a great resizing and sharpening method for those of you keen to show the maximum detail in your web images.

I wish I could remember where I read it on the net but subsequent google searches havent shown up anything. Marc Adamus uses a variant of this method which is actually what lead me to use it because I noticed a certain clarity in the sharpness his images which were not present in mine.

Who should read this
I should point out that many people here dont even do basic sharpening very well or at all for web images, but it does make a difference when it is done correctly. Also this is really aimed at people who want to show their work at the highest quality on the web.

An example
So first off here is a comparison of the two methods:

The difference appears quite small but in my opinion the advanced method is far superior. It picks out the finer details much much better. Look at the grass on the left image, it looks blurry and crunchy in comparison to the pin sharp grass on the right.

How the method works
This method exploits the way Photoshop's Bicubic resize algorythm works to retain finer details. That's all you need to know!

Step by step

1: Flatten the image

2: Resize image to 1.666 times the final size you want. If your final output size is 600px then you should resize at this point to 1000px

3: Apply the Sharpen filter (not Unsharp Mask)

4: Duplicate the layer

5: Apply Sharpen filter (to the top layer, it will look waaaay oversharpened)

5: Resize to final output size. So if you have just resized your iamge to 1000px resize it to 600px now.

6: Apply smart sharpen (set to gaussian blur, 0.2px, 80%). This just brings out a little more crispness!

7: Use a layer mask on the top (sharpest) layer to adjust opacity and mask areas which look oversharpened. Alternatively just adjust the opacity.

8: You may wish to slightly correct the saturation and brightness which will have changed fractionally during the process.

Download the actions
If you can't be bothered to do it all yourself then I would suggest downloading the action I have created which gives sizes between just 100px and 1024px (all the sizes I have used since starting using this method). If you have CS3 and you arent familiar with actions, read the help! They really are very handy for repetitive tasks.

Download the action

To load the action in Photoshop CS3 open the actions pallete click on the little button with a triangle on it and select "Load Action", its that simple.

My entry for  CONTEST OPEN! DEADLINE EXTENDEDCONTEST INFO
Hi everyone!! Finally, we have hit 700 members and it's time to get this get this contest into gear~ (●'◡'●)
:bulletred::bulletblack::bulletred::bulletblack: Why are we doing this? :bulletred::bulletblack::bulletred::bulletblack:
When I first decided to make this group, I wanted it to be a place where people can share their art. I never expected it would grow so fast, and that I would be so moved by just seeing art in my inbox. Every day members of this group submit art and show their amazing dedication, and it amazes me so much what an amazing and strong fandom we are. Really. Over this half-year, we've cried and shared pain together, made a whole lot of amazing art and had some great discussions. I want to finally show my appreciation for all of you here, for us as a community making it this far. This is a chance I want to give to amazing artists out there to get themselves noticed, and to start a fun contest to get eve

This was an idea i had for a while, but was really just too lazy to actually put on paper XPPP. This contest gave me a good reason to do so though lol.

The theme was change, and my inspiration for this piece was Chapter 140 of TG and a line from "unravel":

変わってしまった 変えられなかった
kawatteshimatta  kaerarenakatta
I've completely changed, I couldn't change back

My idea is simple: Kaneki is looking back at his past self, the person he can no longer return to being.

As for symbolism, I went for the flowers that Ishida used-- white carnation and red spider lily
In the language of flowers, the white carnation represents innocence and remembrance.
The red spider lily/higanbana in Japan is associated with loss, longing, abandonment, and reincarnation.
There is a lot of information on these flowers on the internet, so I won't go too deeply into that
The faint checkerboard is another reoccurring symbol found in TG.
To me, the checkerboard was most prominent to me in two parts of the manga. First is during the time Kaneki was being tortured by Yamori. The torture chamber had a checkered floor. To me, the checkers were a representation of Kaneki's change. The second part is found in Chapter 140 where Kaneki describes the "disgusting clouds" floating in the sky. In this scene, the sky appears as a checkerboard, once again a symbol of how Kaneki has changed and can no longer go back.

Welp, that's it, really. I didn't really want to cram too much in this piece because I felt it would end up creating less of an impact. I considered throwing in a centipede in the middle but I didn't really like it. Enjoy!~

Welp, here's another contest entry submission: Taiga from Toradora! genderbent. I think that Taiga as a dude would be still kinda short but more mischievous, lol. I was going to draw all three main female characters (Ami and Minori) but I ended not having enough time. I also did clean lineart...never again....

For the :iconrewritten-artbook: contest
Title: Alice in Cyberland
Theme: A computer/Internet wonderland

If Alice got sucked into the Internet either metaphorically or literally (who knows, haha) I really hope I don't get in trouble for using websites and add-ons ^^;
Alice has white hair and red eyes because I think that people are lead into the world of the Internet by themselves, so basically Alice is also the white rabbit leading herself into the Internet wonderland.
I choose to believe that Firefox is the Cheshire Cat lolol (I know that the Firefox logo is actually a red panda, but I thought that a fox looked cooler haha)
A new shading technique came out of this drawing. I call it the "Abuse the Fringe Effect on Sai" technique

Please note that this is not the full sized image!
