One of my favourite places in New Zealand, is beautiful Lake Matheson.
On favourable mornings, the reward for your early morning hiking aspirations is a crystal clear and calm lake offering pristine reflections of the alpine spectacle before your eyes.
Not the most conducive cloud cover formation for a landscape image (covering Mount Cook wholesale), but, after a failed attempt the morning prior, I was thankful for the fire in the sky this second morning's attempt.
This is an image from my spring 2011 campaign of the South Island.

Aurora Australis and the Milky Way, Goats Bluff, Tasmania. 15/08/2015
I naturally spend a lot of time out under the stars around my local area and I am very familiar with a lot of the features of the night sky- so it always fascinates me when I go to Tasmania just how much higher in the sky something like the Southern Cross is and how the central bulge of the Milky Way, instead of being straight overhead at this time of the year and night from home, is a lot further to the north.
I took the opportunity of a brief window in the clouds during the large aurora display on the 15th of August to do a vertical panorama to try to catch the central bulge of the MW with limited success.

it was kinda cool. those who have my gmail can look if they want. Anyways
with bday gone I"m working on writing and stories more now along with a few
pieces. the writing i may or may not share. the pieces are a given. As always
check out the art below. If you want a challenge, join me for the new one that
I'm taking on.
